Sw Motech Centre Stand 955i

Hi all,

Does anyone have experience of fitting the SW Motech centre stand to a Speed Triple 955i?

I am a little stumped with the start! How to attach the fixing lugs to the engine, or where, on what they attach to? I can't quite interpret the diagram that comes with.... Any help or advice so gratefully received!

I have figured all this out...and it actually looks quite straightforward, as I knew it may well be once I've cleaned under there and had a good look!

Meanwhile, trying to undo my first engine bolt, the nut - M12 (17mm socket), the whole bolt is turning...so, today's question () is does anyone happen to know what size the star drive/torx is!? I have a few drives...but not THIS size! It measures about 12mm. Point to point . Does that make it a TX55??

Also, taking out one bolt at a time, and replacing it with the new longer one..then out with the next ...is my engine gonna fall out ? When each bolt is removed!?

I've done it!

I have fitted this centre stand, and made a (rather long and boring) video of it.

It wasn't actually that difficult once I stopped, starred at it and drank tea!

Once you get started - the bit that for some reason I found difficult, but actually wasn't, it was all ok....again, the instructions are a bit "busy" but kinda make more sense when you're actually down there and dirty...

Seriously, if I can fit this stand, and I did, then anyone can!

Plus, as a relatively newbie it's a good non-critical job that'll teach you lots. About getting dirty, about getting up close and personal with your machine, as well as garage skills and using torque wrenches etc.

I'm very happy to help others if needed, just pm me. And I'll also have a video uploaded to my 'moments of triumph' Youtube channel, or send you. I warn you, it's a bit boring and I filmed myself doing it wrong once...

The instructions I found only really made sense in hindsight!! But hey, things are always easier when you know how!!

Not sure if you saw on the YouTube video, but it was advised that the TWO springs should be used, with the smaller one wound into the bigger?

I haven't done that, but the tension on what I have (using just the larger spring) is so good.

As you say, it's a god send to have a central stand!! Even though it's hernia inducing getting it on there!!
