I would like to my two pence worth too. About 20 years back I was told I had carpal tunnel syndrome. He wanted to do surgery. I referred to another specialist who said no, do not do it and gave me some injections. It went away. Now when I ride for long distance yes my right hand gets numb after sometime. I ride in Canada and on the open roads most times so can afford to put a manual cruise control on the throttle and set the speed and take the right hand off the throttle. I think there is also another gadget that you can use to put your thumb or the bottom part of your hand so that you do not have to use your fingers too. The angle and the height of the handle bar also does make a difference to it I feel.
Not like you ain't got stuff on your mind brother.... Seen the M.O. this morning... Booked me in to see the consultant. Different guy now, seems the other has retired, thank fook. So waiting game now.

saddened to read about your experiences, unfortunately, like every other profession, you get great ones, good ones, average ones and fuck awful ones...… except politicians of course, they are all just fuck awful. from what you said, it seems that it is not swelling pressing on your nerve but a natural thinning of the gap for the nerve to pass through your wrist. (bone & tissue can thin with age, nerves do not) Operation to manually widen the channel for your nerve will do the trick (providing you have a good consultant and the op in the morning. (never just after lunch or end of the day... doctors get tired too after meals) finally treat scars like wrinkles...… life experience/life lived lines...… they are defined by the life you have lived, memories made and the stories you can share. Stay awesome
I had carpal tunnel in both hands and trigger finger in my left pinky. I worked repetitive jobs in factories,rode motorcycles,and played guitar all my life. JJ
Got an awful lot of both scars and wrinkles! Unlike the old lady who said she only had one wrinkle, and she was sat on that

Had the carpel tunnel op on my left hand a few years ago. Think mine was brought on by a very heavy clutch. Got so bad that in the end I couldn't even grip a piece of paper to pull it out of an envelope. A few weeks with my hand bandaged up and another week or to after that and the difference was well worth it, and had no trouble since.
I had the OP done on both wrists a few years back. Same reasons pins and needles and numbness when riding, holding a newspaper, eating. I'm a engineer so found it hard using tools. Your hands are painfully firm a few weeks after, it takes up to a year to regain full strength but it's well worth it.
Well, English is obviously not my native tongue, but having been married to a British woman for twelve years (who transpired to be a serial "schtupster" so I kicked her out) I'm relatively well versed in British colloqial/vernacular. There seems to be quite a lot of "Jiddisch" in the American English though? We also have a lot of Jewish derived phrases and words incorporated in (especially in Amsterdam) our language.
"Serial schtupster".....that's priceless! And unfortunately, true not only of your (former) British woman but my former spouse as well. You were wise and kicked her out. I'm not sure about the "Jiddisch" in American English. Will have to start noticing. I do have a Jewish sister-in-law but she lives in Texas so is probably more influenced by being a Texan than a Jew!

Kind of getting somewhere with this at last. Got a letter on Monday telling me to confirm I wanted an appointment. So, rang up... Am now on an actual waiting list! Opted for Dingwall, its less hassle than getting to Inverness... And I really don't like Raigmore hospital. Have reached the point now where my whole right arm is aching, is very painful if I roll on that side at night... Hand is pretty numb, and I keep dropping things. (haven't actually seen a consultant yet... Just the M.O.) So, progress anyway. Albeit slow. Edit... Thinking about this logically... September I was put on a list. That's roughly 16 weeks ago.. Then I gets a letter, and now I'm on a list.... That 16wk waiting list is now 2 16 week waiting lists!
Maybe I won't complain so much about the health are system in the U.S. I hope things move along for you, Big Sandy. It sounds like your carpal tunnel is getting really extreme in terms of pain and functionality.
I feel your pain with the arthritis. I am 56 and have just started suffering in my fingers of my right hand. It’s no surprise really having ridden bikes for 40 years, played golf regularly and having started my working life as a bricklayer. Along with other racquet sports over my lifetime, it’s done a lot of work ! I am now trying cod liver oil and vitamin D tablets. But have to still take 2 paracetamol before golf.
