Outside of the common wire, what are the wire colors for coil 1,2 and 3. I have manual and can read schematic. All are labeled number 27 on diagram and all in a row. No mention which is number 1 etc. One coil outline is a series of dots rather than solid line. I'm thinking this is number 3.

I did not take this apart. I can take a guess only by distance from the harness.

Was looking for quick easy answer so stopped waiting and figured it out myself. Wife (with hand on hip) says "You always know the answer, why are you asking for help? Are you being lazy again?" Kick in the pants always works.

Thanks for the pics but the sure fire way to know is back at the igniter pins number 11,12 and 6 will have the corresponding wires attached.6 to 1, 11 to 2 and 12 to 3. That's on page 16.19 in my copy of the shop manual. No colors mentioned so easy to miss.

I'll tell why I did not find this info initially in my shop manual. You could buy Triumph's ignition system tester but it's not cheap and I don't even know if you can buy it anyway. Because of this I skipped past those pages related to using their tester. I've looked at those pages before but somehow didn't make the connection mentally with the wire colors. Just used the pinout info to test. The wiring diagrams are deficient by not numbering the coils. There is one diagram of the 96 Trophy with coil number but the color codes of the wires are wrong.

Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to it.
