So here I sit on my last evening in Spain. Close to Santander before my ferry sets sail for Plymouth tomorrow.
It's been a great couple of weeks riding through Spain. A mix of motorways, rural road and some great Twisties.
I can also confirm that when having to ride 450 Kms in a day, in 38 degree heat that you don't really notice the engine heat too much.
A last day tomorrow of some more twisty roads and a bit of the coast before a few sherbets on the Pont Avon.
Everyone should ride the continent at least once.
The triumph 1200 has not missed a beat and has been dream to ride, even with the missus on the back. ( She loved it too.)

    Where next ?

Recently returned from a similar trip, crossing from Portsmouth to Caen, then to Spain and back. Done this a few times, sometimes on the overnight into Bilbao/Santander with my wife pillion, some great riding. This last trip was just the lads so fast roads and twisties, but paid the price, three speeding tickets from France after returning home. Beware in France, they are now using private companies in unmarked vehicles to target speeding vehicles and very little allowances made to the amount over the limit. Could it also be that we were displaying UK number plates, surely not, the French wouldn't do that eh! This ride was the last on my Kawasaki Versys 650, before buying my new Triumph Tiger 800. Yet to take the new bike on a road trip. As for your next trip, fly to Vegas, hire a bike and tour the mid west, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, fantastic. I've toured all over the US on a rental bike, usually a Harley Electroglide with wife pillion and its just great, mind blowing. If not your next trip, add it to your list and make it happen, you will not be disappointed.

I'm keen to ride Spain and my husband and I and a couple of riding buddies will probably do just that in the next year or two.

I agree with you, Phot, that riding through Nevada, Arizona, and Utah is amazing! Did you have any favorite places or roads in particular?? I live in southern Arizona and the riding here is glorious. My hubby and I ride regularly from Tucson to Las Vegas and take mostly all small two-lane backroads. The diversity of Arizona is vast and surprising. And the Grand Canyon is a must-see. If anyone is thinking of riding in my neck of the woods, let me know and I'd be happy to share some recommendations if you're interested.

Phot, have you had the opportunity to ride in Colorado? An absolutely beautiful place! Five of us are riding to Sturgis in a week and we'll be riding through Arizona, New Mexico, Colorado, Wyoming, and South Dakota. My husband's and my first time to Sturgis. Adventure!! :grinning:

Melmik, your Spain trip sounds wonderful! Do you have any particular recommendations on where to ride, places to see, overnight stops? A riding trip through Spain is on my husband's and my bucket lists.

My favourite ride in Utah musty be out of St George, Zion, Bryce Canyon, Escalante and up to Capitol Reef, just love that route. We have toured Colorado too. From Utah to Canyons of the Ancients, Mesa Verde, Durango and various stops on the way to Denver. Very few places we have not yet been, Sturgis being one. Recently spent time over to the east and managed to squeeze in Tail of the Dragon. North rim of the canyon is a great ride, stopping at Jacob Lake and on to Vermilion Cliffs and Page. In a few weeks we are touring Croatia, Bosnia and Montenegro, but wont be long before we are back to the USA.

    Hi Sandi,

We found the Parks in the north were fantastic. We stayed one night in a village called Arroyo at a hotel called Las Laboras. It's right next to a lake and a great place to stay. When we left we rode through Parc Natural Saja-Besaya. The CA-280 from Espinilla to Cabezon de la sal. We had it planned but the owner of the hotel told us that many people plan to ride it. It takes you up through the mountains with some lovely riding and beautiful views.
Next time we go we have decided to ferry to Santander then tour the parcs and then ride back through France.
    Go for it.
