I am picking up a 1997 900 Sprint this Saturday with side car. 21,000 miles, been sitting for 6 months. Once I get her home I will check everything.

I am a motorcycle guy started racing in 1964 and still road race at local tracks. I also have been building vintage road racers for going on 30 years. Sorta slowed down now. Still got too many projects. Just finished a CBX and a TDM850. Finished a couple of modern racers for myself, a CBR250R and a SV650. Got a 82 GPZ550, XV920R on deck to start next, but the Triumph has to be fit in there sometime.

Anything I should be checking beside the normal wear things ? Kinda excited, the side car should be fun. Rode with some before and wife I hope likes it.

I am in New Mexico, any other Triumph riders around here ?

Make sure battery is top notch or you can get sprag problems (starter). Very expensive fix as it is an engine out job on your bike.
    Brakes obviously
    Carbs may be gummed up

You been around a bit so I guess you know most of the checks needed.

Welcome in by the way. I have a 95 Sprint and a 97 T509 Speedie.

Welcome Alan, you don’t see many sidecars around these days. Let’s see some pics of your collection when you can. :grinning:

Hi and welcome Alan , I had a chair fitted for a couple of years , took a bit of getting used to but great fun ( especially when you go round a left hander and the thing lifts off the ground with your mate in the chair shouting "shiiiiiiit thaaaaa beddddd ..." with his eyes popping out of his head … haha great times :)

Welcome to this terrific forum, Alan, and congrats on the Sprint / side car purchase. We would love to see a photo or two.

I'm not in New Mexico but am quite nearby in Arizona. Where in New Mexico do you live? My hubby and I ride to various places in NM (Santa Fe, Taos, Silver City) rather regularly and love the state!

Ahh, I just looked back and see that you're in Truth or Consequences, NM. I've not been there...yet!

I do too! :) And your post got me to finally check into just why that city has that name. This is from Wikipedia:

I am picking up the bike and sidecar tomorrow. Question ? Does anyone know the overall height with windscreen. I have an enclosed trailer for my road racers and the opening is only 55 inches, is the windscreen taller than that ? If so any idea what I need to take it off ?
