Street Twin Oil Light When At Full Right Lock

The fact there was a recall done and this problem being what it is could be linked, certainly appears potentially possible.
Personally I would go back to who did the recall. Be polite with them and specify that you are in no way blaming them but could they look into it and enter into a warranty discussion with Triumph on your behalf to see how far you can get.

 

Why be polite, just say WTF!

 

Try it but I know which one is more likely to give a favourable answer?

 

Hi Tom, I bought my 2016 Street Twin last year and I have the same problem when turning right.
The oil light used to flick but now it's "ON" all the time. I think the previous owner spoiled the instrument connector due to the too tight wiring loom. (he did a mess trying to fix it, see pic)

The dealer told me that the problem was that connector (they could'nt repair it) so I replaced it with a new one by my own.

If you already had a recall, you can check this connector to see if there are loosen cables (or before they break them)

In my case the oil light is still "ON" (Now the dealer is telling me that I need to buy a new dashboard ????) I don't trust them anymore. Oil pressure is OK, I change the oil and filter, and everything is working but I don't know what to do with the Oil light.

 

My suggestion is a long shot, just in case it is the connection it is worth a try as it is quite simple, low cost and at least eliminates the connection. Try cleaning the plug under the speedo with dielectric spray (obv power disconnected) followed by silicone grease before reconnecting and a puff of ACF50 after.

 

As in your case I also needed to use Triumph's after care for a warranty issue and found their customer service excellent.

Given the recall, which as I understand it was a little clip to hold cables was done close to three years after build I imagine the chaffing has worn the cables. My recall was done a year after my ST was made, 12 months later the loom had to be replaced due to random lights coming on at full lock. The full loom replacement took hours, fortunately it was in warranty

 

I also found this:

The headstock tidy (guide) situated behind the head stock on the left-hand side of the main frame is used to position the clutch cable and main harness, which in its original condition may allow the clutch cable to contact the main harnesssheath, potentially causing damage to the wiring within the main harness. If this condition occurs and remains undetected, it may lead to a loss of electrical power to various electrical circuits.

CONSEQUENCE
As a consequence, headlight or indicator lighting may malfunction or engine power could be lost without warning, increasing the risk of a crash.

REMEDY
Owners are advised to bring their motorcycles to a Triumph dealer to havethe original headstock tidy replaced with a new version free of charge (parts and labour).

 

Hi, my recall was done also (previous owner) I was told by the dealer to change full loom because of the conector and It seemd crazy for me since it was easy to replace it.
Now the connector it like new but the problem persists. I think the problem is on a different part of the wiring. Any idea?
