Greetings to all. Getting a 2012 Thunderbird 1600 this week (feels like waiting for Christmas - only 3 sleeps to go!). Had Far East cruisers before but first Brit bike and the grin was up to 11 on the test ride. Best to you, great site.
Welcome Steve, congrats on the new bike and enjoy her when she arrives. I’ll be up your way next week, touring with the new wife.
Thought I was living the dream with a new bike but you're capping it with bike, Highland scenary and new wife. Life is good.
Hello and welcome...... Enjoy the bike when you get it. I've had 3 Tbirds and consider my current 1600 to the the best choice. I'm off on a round tour of France this Saturday coming...me, my Beloved and my 2010 Thunderbird 1600.should be about 2k miles. A good comfortable bike for HER too. BTW....early Tbirds sometimes get a bit of coolant splatter on the engine cases....hoses are held on by jubilee clips....just nip them up a little tighter if it happens to yours.
Steve822 Welcome to the family. What you been doing all this time that Thunderbird has been waiting for you. Do make sure we get a picture of the steed when you get time to stop riding it. Don't worry about the big cheesy grin as nursey and Triumph are working on a cure so it doesn't become permanent. Regards & Ride Safe. Joe.
Thanks to all for your warm welcomes and for the advice about the jubilee clips, will keep an eye on those. New bike to me means learning those little (or big) character traits which all you experienced folk know all about. The dealer is already looking into the belt squeal I noticed on the test ride - it does sound like chirping! (Thought a flock of starlings was trapped in one of the saddlebags at one point). Thanks to your site the "I haven't got a clue" look I had has been replaced with a thoughtful stroking chin look.
