cheap as chips

Nice, we like cheap! I am thinking about declaring my exhausts this year to be honest, it makes a £1 a month difference. When my previous bike got stolen the can was £550 to replace... i was gutted as i couldn't afford to replace them. I guess its swings and roudabouts.

 

I'm £250 from Hastings declared my exhaust and others, they said they weren't classed as performance enhancing, still £250 compared to £90 I don't get it?!?

 

Youch that is pretty steep! God knows where they make up there prices

 

When bennetts put it up from £250 to £920 I did shop around and got Hastings, so yes I'm a new customer, an old git with no convictions, the only thing against me is I'm in outer london suburbs, costly? Maybe, but worth it!

 

Still seems steep to me crispey as you know. As a fellow old git with only 1 years riding experience since passing my test I got £85.00 on the Bonnie with Aviva and £88.00 on the Trident with Bennetts (both fully comp). Perhaps I'm an even older git!

Insurance companies get right up my nose but a necessary evil. Changed my policy mid term from my Harley to my Street Triple in November and they charged me over £200 extra for the remainder of the contract which had 7 months to run. I needed the cover note to tax the new Triumph and thought that was the easy option, what I probably should of done is cancel that policy and take out a new policy which would of cost me £90 or very close. This year Devitt wanted nearly £200 but Bennets came back at £88 fully comp so it's a no brainier, but here I am again in September I have to change my policy for the new Speed Triple ... Watch this space

Yes that sounds a good deal as legal cover alone can cost £30 odd quid and breakdown loads more than that

 

I'm with Hastings, my documents show the value of the bike and a separate value for Accessories. I'm not sure if there is a difference between an accessory and a modification. But I would have thought that a different exhaust system could be thought of as an accessory. Certainly, that's what Triumph call them.


I recall trying different values for the accessory figure when getting the quote and it didn't seem to make much difference.

 

Actually I've just clarified the difference between modifications and accessories.

Accessories are additional or extra parts of your bike that do not directly relate to its function as a bike. Some examples would be luggage, handlebar grips and tank protectors.

A Bike is considered modified if it has been changed in any way since it was first supplied by the vehicle manufacturer. This would include: changes to the body work, suspension or brakes, cosmetic changes, changes to the engine management system or exhaust system.

Clear as mud.

 

Blimey I better buy a new bike then.

 

Anyone have problems proving their NCD even tho' it is usually stated on the renewal documents. I forwarded the de it's email and e-docs to Bennets and they say it's not enough ??

 

For sure it is sound advice to save the docs I shall definitly be doing that from now on
