Hi Jamie welcome in, it's going to be your decision, all are fine examples and it will be down to your own personal taste. The thing to think about is what and how much modding you will do and how much you will need for that. Guaranteed you will want to do something. I'm a thruxton owner and love it but I'm sure I'd love the Bonnie/ scrambler too if I owned one.

Yo Jamie, Bonnie for traditional Triumph look, however my 2009 Bonnie SE is tricked up with power commander, pipes etc etc, so plenty scope for personalising if yer wanna go down that route. Thruxton fer Cafe Race look, Scrambler fer moto cross look. If yer gunna be 2 up seats are HARD! so yer may need King/Queen jobby.

Having ridden CBR600 was impressed, but twas like race day every time I went out on my Gixer, don't miss that aspect at all. I'm a little older than you, (not necessarily wiser aboard my Bonnie). As the guys say, test rides a must to get right "Feel" Have a pal selling his 2013 Bonnie, he just don't use it as he has lots of bikes. I think there's another Bonnie on here somewheres fer sale.

Hi Jamie! Being a tightarsed Yorkshireman, may I suggest you look at the 900cc 3cyl Thunderbird and T'bird Sport. These are about half the price of what you are thinking about spending, and are now beginning to appreciate in value. They really do look the part if you are wanting 'retro', and they are pretty well bulletproof into the bargain.:) Standard T'bird has around 69bhp whilst the 'Sport' is around 85bhp, so plenty of fun to be had!:D

Or you could just get a 900 Trident like wot I've got!! 98bhp ... fnaaarrr fnaaarrr!!:p:eek:

Biased?? Moi?? Oh, most serpently!! :)

    Hi Jamie,
Bonnie, Thruxton for retro looks and as has been said already, loads of mods are available. Bonnie is most traditional retro looking and Thruxton more cafe racer. Scrambler is rarer and also very retro. Bonnies are most plentiful and probably the cheapest. I would have all three if I could, but like Steve, opted for a 900 Trident along with the Bonnie.

I would definitely take a few for test rides if you are able to , Thruxtons do look great , good point though about the watercooled thunderbird's , I've seen one of those turned into a café racer & it looked well smart

That Bonnie I mentioned above for sale is December 2013 Triumph Bonneville America at £5,900, black, quick release screen, sissybar and pad, heated grips, 1600 miles only. Have got a pic but it's a printed off photo so I will have to scan etc. I'll put it on fer sale page when I get a min, yer can pm me if anybody wants more info. Bike is near Scarborough, East Coast Yorkshire. His name is John 01723 865878 and is slightly deaf, so tends to be loud down phone but nice guy.

Extra info forgot to say spotlamps lovely bike, trying to load photos now on fer sale thingy.

    Hi Jamie - welcome in.
I had a Thruxton & loved it - may suit you better than Bonnie coming from a cbr [bit more sporty] but Bonnie better if you need to carry a pillion. Pillion pegs very close to riders feet on Thruxton. If you want to get really comfy & laid back America or Speedmaster will do the trick. I have not tried Scrambler so cannot comment on those but I am sure you will enjoy any of them whatever one you decide on.

Hi Jamie and welcome to the Triumph playground. Which modern classic? Depends entirely on what your heart leaps for,so essential to view and ride all versions.

I have a T100 with loads of mods to make it MY T100,have had it for 4 yrs now - but I'm leaning slowly towards a Speedmaster.

Only you can decide mate, buy whichever touches your soul most and modify it to make it YOURS.
