Hi guys, I’m about to give Betty a service, first one since I’ve had her. Just wondering what the best parts to go with, ie oil & filter, air filter, plugs, brake disks & pads. Also gonna change the chain & sprockets. What upgrades are best or are the standard parts better?
    Cheers
    Andy

Have you got any details of the work that was carried out in August last year? And also how many miles since that service? You might be over servicing it, it could just need an oil and filter and an annual inspection.

Why a HiFlo oil filter? OEM is only a tenner

HiFlo can be less than half the cost of OEM and is very good quality

You can’t really over service a bike, it won’t do any harm surely. I’d do it on a new to me bike anyway. Despite a service history you never know how good the servicing has been, even from a dealer. I’ve seen some terrible work come from even Main dealers.

I agree but you don’t really don’t want to be swapping plugs and air filters after only 1000 miles and I’ve known people do it.

As it’s done 8000 miles it needs a full service

I just picked up a used 2016 675R with 8500 km a month ago. Bike hadn't seen service since fall 2017 so I immediately did an oil/filter change with Motul 5100 (semi) and a HiFlo filter (HF204). Good chance the Triumph branded filter may be manufactured by HiFlo, can't tell any difference in performance from the OEM filter that was on before. Went with the non racing HiFlo as I'd read some reports of failure with the one that has the tightening bolt (same for the K&N version).

I'm debating doing both coolant and brake fluid change, which Triumph recommends every two years and is now due. Probably do those at the end of the season before I store the bike. Fluid in back brake reservoir is pretty dark but brakes feel plenty strong. Some independent service guys here have said that coolant/brake every two years under normal use isn't really required.

I've read mixed reviews on K&N air filter. Does changing to one require any remapping (or whatever it is)?

You don’t really need to remap for a K&N air filter Tommy, they’re just a marginally better flowing filter.
The advantage is that they’re washable so you only have to buy once.
As for the fluid changes, I’d do them anyway for peace of mind. The coolant from the factory is supposed to be long life stuff but it won’t do any harm to change it. Just make sure you get some which is compatible with aluminium which most are these days anyway.
The brake fluid should definitely be changed though if it’s looking dark.

Do the shock linkage bearings. Seen many that have failed on far less miles. 30k i would think about fork oil. Has the coolant ever been done?

I would go along with this list, personally I wouldn't go K&N unless I had to.
I did use K&N, but only for financial reasons.
