One of my collegues at work has just been fined for displaying out of date tax disc. Seems even though you now do not need one as it's computerised - displaying the old one is an offence. Just a heads up fellas.

Good to share that one, even though it's completely daft !!! If they have moved over to an electronic system why should there be a problem with whatever you display on your bike? They KNOW your bike is taxed.

Ah! but what you don't realise is that they are highly trained and skilled drivers who have been through rigorous tests and are now qualified to blatantly bend the rules and talk to the general public in a condescending manner!

We may gest but aren't a lot of us getting completely fed up with governments doing what they like, to who they like, when they like. Claiming they are working for us, making a difference blah blah blah.

The only difference I see is the bulk of the 650 or so MP's lining there filthy pockets.

Why do we need them at all in this day of mass, instant communication? Want laws voted upon? Sent me a text and I'll vote !

Hi HT, completely agree with your expressed sentiments. I'm not exactly sure of the numbers but I think they go something like this:

    Basic salary - £67,000 pa

    Average expenses - £39,000 pa

Total cost to the British Public purse per MP - £106,000 x 650MPs = £68,900,000 pa

If we look at the big picture there are bound to be £millions more spent on our current form of Government without including the House of Lords (Old Boys Club), they don't receive a salary but do get £300 per day each time they 'clock-in'.

Let's form an orderly queue boys and girls, get your cards ready...........................................

To be perfectly honest I'm absolutely fed up with this supposed democracy - not just in the UK but here in France as well.

The French equivalent of an MP gets 13,750 euros per month salary, then an allowance of up to 13,000 euros per month secretarial support plus expenses. It's been calculated that each French MP costs the French public approx 300,000 euros per year - NOT BAD EH ?

    And for what ?

Road tax has always annoyed me , there is no way all that money gets spent on road upkeep & improvement , bloody daylight robbery it is (voice of yoda) . Interesting fact though about old tax discs , I've noticed a lot of people , especially with classic bikes , leaving the tax disc holder & old tax disc on
