dont feel so stupid now !!!! many years ago had a kawa zrx , big old beast loved it to death [ before i found triumph] , anyway always rode into garage kick side stand down an get off .........................ONLY THIS DAY GOD KNOWS WHY rode into garage an got off without putting side stand down ...oooooohhhhhhhhhh shit , trapped under bike , lay there think what a dick , legs getting wet !!!!! THATS FUEL AND BIKE ITS HOT ......AMAZING HOW QUICK you can get from under a trapped bike ....was shounting wife in house , she heard me shouting , but never came out just thought i was swearing at bike !!!!!!
Know the feeling! The son in law and myself going for 1st ride together .50' in front of my house there's a stop sign.Went to wiggle the bars to keep my balance and a cable snagged on my RF900 .Took the plunge to the left at less than walking speed. The wife 3 daughters and my other son in law looking out the window in amazement!
I did it last year, on my Thruxton r. Just done over 2000 miles, touring round Europe, parked up on the eurotunnel, with side stand down, then decided to move it a bit and forgot to put the stand back down and climbed off. Bike went straight down, scuffed my helmet, snapped the ball off the clutch lever and scuffed the side of exhaust. Not very happy I can tell you
You're not alone , first bike I had was an old 250 James 2 stroke . Mate road it home for me . Thought I'd try it out in back garden . Started , open throttle high speed down garden and into wall . …….. Forks bent back , exhausts pushed into cylinders . Written off . Great start to my biking career .
I would have to say those that dropepd it and own it, and those that dropped it but do not own it I dropped mine twice (still hurts when I think of it). Once stupidly... was my first time ever on it doing the test drive to buy it - I did buy it . Second time I just stopped on an inclined area and it just went beyoun the tipping point... I am 5"2 and 52kg with a Street Triple.. no chance to hold it. Lowered it since then and now all is fine.
I’m sure your mum must have said something about eating ur greens as a child - you could have made 5”3 As I recall, there isn’t much in Gibraltar that isn’t on an incline... I was too after a few beers with the residents of the evil lair within the rock.
Years ago I had a hydraulic workbench and was doing some servicing on my ex missus’s ZX6R. She’d just bought an iridium screen for it (as was the fashion back then) and I’d been ribbing her about how bloody awful it’d look but she wanted it anyway. So I fitted the screen, did the service and was getting it off the bench when I lost my balance a bit, slipped and the bike toppled away from me. I tried my best to stop it going (honest) but it went anyway and dragged me with it as I tried in vain to stop it. The resultant crash brought the missus running into the garage to find me sprawled across the bike which was now wedged between the workbench and the garage wall. The only real damage being a smashed iridium screen, to which she says “I know you didn’t like the bloody screen but you didn’t have to smash it!” and then storms off, leaving me to pick up the pieces. She didn’t talk to me for the rest of the day (which wasn’t a bad thing!)
Rolled into the garage locked front wheel tried too stiff leg (right) pulled The ham string muscle but saved the bike lol.
I did a similar thing to this when the boot lace hooked itself around the peg. At literally the last minute the penny dropped and with a flick of the clutch I somehow managed to stay on it. A quick look round to see who was watching this idiot and no harm done... phew
A distinct lack of photos on this thread. So, last weekend, a Beta 300 factory exiting a stream with a two foot step in front and a 52 year old superstar on top. What can possibly go wrong? What happens next?
