Don’t forget HT in those days the crew would also pump out your petrol tank leaving you with just enough petrol to get you to the nearest petrol station in Douglas

Yep. Remember well the stickers on my tank. Isle of Man tanks pumped and the queues at the petrol stations. 1979 we went over on the bikes, my Bonnie, 7 yr old daughter on back, cb500 with my mrs, yam 250 and a spaz car, our old mate Kevin who was disabled. Fukkin great year, Hailwood, Grant etc, great weather . Best bit, me on the Bonnie with my 7 yr old daughter on the back being overtaken as we went home after practice by sidecar racers that had broken down in the race, whooooaaa they were so fukkin fast. My daughter screaming at me go after them dad.....

IMG_0670.JPG I went with old friend to Classic TT in 2017, and we had no problems. The crew handed out padding to protect bikes and did the strapping down. If bike is left in gear, I can't see there being an issue.

My only grumble is having to breath neat exhaust fumes for ten minutes while waiting to disembark. Why does everyone need to fire up and rev their engines before the doors are even open?

Took time to visit Eric in erm... Morecambe and do the pose (well, almost). An nice elderly gentleman offered to take our photo with my mate's phone, but after 10 minutes of instruction and failed attempts, he still didn't get it. Eventually his wife, who hadn't said anything up to that point, took the phone from him, snapped the photo and said, "there you are. I have a phone like that, we'd have been here all day waiting for him to get it!".

Just noticed that the top of my head has been sliced off.

P.S. enjoy TT. We certainly had a brilliant time.

The current Ben-my-Chree entered service in 1998, a predecessor saw service during WW2. On the 24th September 1939 my Dad departed from Newport Docks to Nantes in France as a member of the British Expeditionary Force, sailing on the Ben-my-Chree. Eight months later the same ship picked him up from Dunkirk to come home – I bet you don’t get service like that today! Manannan is quick and previously saw service with the US military as Joint Venture - HSV-X1, regretfully when they ‘civilianised’ it they removed the HeliDeck - could have proved useful!

NUDGERS at the front of the queue :)
Bike performed brilliant two up and with all that luggage on :)
Apart from some really crawling traffic through some roadworks I was mightily impressed with the performance of NUDGER

OK, so you made it safe and sound - good to hear! How did the ferry trip go - obviously no problem, as we'd have heard! But, did they strap the bike down carefully enough for you; was the crossing calm; were the crew aware that they would all die horrible deaths of Nudger had so much as a deckhand's fingerprint on her immaculate paintwork; is Mrs. Nudger enjoying the comfort of sitting on your Nudger ..... etc., etc. Your adoring fans need to know ..................... :D
