remove immobiliser

    Hi, hows it going? I have been on holiday and since I saved all winter, then in February went a bit daft with replacement parts i have been fitting them New discs and pads, new hagon mono , fork seals, rear brakes, head-stock bearings, clutch plates, and springs.
    I have also tried to get new keys and I can- not seem to get new key that comes with space for immobilizer chip, and after reading some of the threads, I thought I might just ditch it or "skip it" as the saying goes , only I have no clue where to begin. can any one help?

    Obviously with a question like this, the details really matter. What's the bike: model/year etc and what type/make of immobiliser ?

    I know mines a Bonny not like yours, but under the seat on mine you can see the Triumph alarm unit straight away. To remove mine apparently it only requires to be unplugged and the other multi-way plug needs some bridging links.

    The alarm unit (left in the pic) has a red oval on the black box.

    Thank you again, electrics is not my strong point, so i must admit I was sort of looking for a step by step I got a quote of 2 to 3 hours at 48 pounds an hour might have to to this.
    simpler more full proof mechanics sounds good to me and the amount of people speaking about ditching immobilizers, when you start looking at threads is , frankly worrying.

    Hi JTD, if I were you, I would be thinking more about :

    1. battery condition/charging plug & socket, to make it easy to put the bike on charge;

    2. If you bike has clutch and side-stand cut-outs, these have been know to fail so short circuit them.

    Not had any immobilisers fail though.

    side -stand cut out has not worked under my ownership. I do need to pull clutch though ANY imfo I would be very grateful . i seem to be heading towards a basic model with no gadgets or un- necessary complications . unfortunately getting there is one ( a complication) . i had a ponytail on my last bike cos on tdm850 u had to remove tank to get to battery so jump start was a pain . the 955i is more straight forward.
    I have a council lock up so no power I disconnect battery each time i leave bike for any length of time cos she did drain from some where but 2 mins to disconnect and shes been spot on all winter. she normally starts even after 2 weeks(still connected) so no worries.

    Hello, I had all sorts of problems with my imob/alarm(2006 955i Daytona). It left me stuck somewhere, so that was the last straw. If your bike came with an imob, it probably has an anti tamper box over the connection to the wiring harness. (mine was under the seat, just follow the cables back from the alarm unit until it comes to a concealed box)A bit awkward to get at, but I had great satisfaction destroying the anti tamper cover. You will of course now need the by pass plug. probably not available through Triumph. I got mine from Ivan, at National Triumph, good bloke. Had to send him photos of male, and female parts of the plug/alarm. No more probs until last week when she just wont go, another story, I'll ask for help now, good luck

    Thank you for the thread. bikes on sticks at the mo waiting for Swingarm to come back from shotblast, so I want to get everything back together. test drive. then on to immobiliser.

    I removed the immobiliser from a 2001 Sprint RS. I believe there are two types: either plugged into the wiring harness, or hard wired in. On mine - the first type - it was just a matter of unplugging the connector which is situated at the rear of the bike, just in front of the rear light behind the bodywork. I then fitted one of these:http://www.worldoftriumph.com/product.php/28679/. Before I removed anything else, I took the top off the alarm and removed its internal battery (I've been caught/deafened before). The alarm was behind the bodywork at the rear of the bike (near the wiring plug).

    I have also removed alarm/immobilisers from several bikes that have been hard wired in (I've had a lot of bikes). One of the best write ups I've found on how to do this is here: http://www.matt-thornton.net/blog/how-to-remove-a-datatool-system-3-from-a-honda-cbr600fx. You'll notice that the alarm in this write up is a Datatool, as was the one fitted to my RS. Yours is a Taurus? If it was me and it was hard wired in, I'd be inclined to still follow the instructions in the above write up. I'm no expert, but all you need is a soldering iron and some patience.

    Hi Howard, is there any chance you could take a picture of this blanking plug you refer to? I want to remove the Triumph alarm set-up from my T100.

    Yes. I had a look yesterday and I am hard wired. no sign of an alarm just immobilizer thank you for all your help. Howard this seems like I can have a go.
    Am sitting here, on a day off, nothing to do, bike is down past monoshock and I phoned " the man " (who is stripping and blasting my swingarm) cos he said Wednesday now its Thursday- cant move on -( he seems like a nice man ) aaaaaaaaaaaaggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.
