Hi, current VFR1200f owner inteerested in a Tiger 1200 but somewhat horrified by the service costs (i.e .£700 for a major) i am seeing on here and elsewhere. These costs pretty much determine whether i buy a bike. Any advice gratefully recieved provided its not go to an independent. And just in case you wonder the VFR 16k major is approx £500. Cheers

Tbf the questions i had about muddysump are answered assuming that when he says he covers the whole of the uk he really does! Living in the stix in mid wales/borders this would be tested to the max

My understanding is he plans his jobs in geographical clusters as best he can.

Hi Yanto, and welcome in :cool: my understanding is you can use any bike workshop as long as they are VAT registered and use OEM parts, although I could be proved wrong shortly, so just find a local workshop you trust and see what price they'll give you :sun::sun:

    Yanto.
Welcome to the Family. Seems to me you are trying to talk your self out of buying the bike. I always do my own servicing as far as oils and brakes are concerned and Bulldog Triumph accept and adjust the price to suit.

Welcome aboard Yanto. £700 is not unheard of. Much of that is driven by labour costs.

You can find cheaper main dealers. Admittedly Woburn is a bit of a stretch from Wales but our basic cost for the major service is currently £525, plus cost of any needed shims, and £12 per day for a loan bike. We'll be increasing the service cost to £545 later in the year. Annual is £225 (£245 later). Join the Milton Keynes Branch of TOMCC and that's £500 and £200, including price rise.
