I was looking at buying a Ducati Monster, but then I have seen the new Speed Twin, which has turned my head. Any forum members actually bought one, looking for real world owners thoughts please

Hello LCBoy64 and welcome to the forum :)

The best way to satisfy your desire is to have test rides on both bikes.

    Hi mate and welcome
Always fancied a monster but a mate of mine had one and had nothing but trouble (unlucky maybe?)
I went with Triumph and have no regrets :)
The speed twin has caught my eye as well
    Get a test ride :p

Welcome in mate. Can't help personally but I've only heard & read good things about it.

    Hi - Thank you.
I have been to have a look at two, it is a lovely thing and sounds great with the Vance and Hines pipes on. I was waiting for the weather to improve before booking a test ride. The only reservation I have is the lack of any sort of adjustability with the suspension. I have also enquired if there are plans to launch an 'R' version like the Thruxton, which I cannot get an answer on from any dealers. If there is an R version planned I would wait for that.

I test road the speed twin in February and immediately ordered a silver and black one. Not long to wait now for mine to be delivered....

Welcome to the Family. Its a big choice to change a bike. But really you have to rely on your own instincts as only you know what puts that grin on you face. I will wait to see what your head makes you buy.

I bought my speed twin this last Monday, and instantly loved it. So comfortable, easy to ride, and just fun!! I’ve owned many bikes in the past, but unfortunately have been without for the last 7 yrs. When I jump on the speed twin earlier this week, I was amazed how it made me feel immediately comfortable. Everything about this bike feels well thought out. I literally don’t think I could be more happy about my purchase!! Hope this helps...

Welcome aboard LC. I've done around 250 miles running in the demo at Woburn, and loved it. I'm gonna buy one once I get round to selling some of my surplus bikes.

    Hi there,
I have one and I love it. I am still running it in, but I have to say it is probably the best bike I have had. It’s power delivery is great and it is really smooth to ride. I don’t think you will be disappointed. I did 6 hours on it today in all English weather can chuck at it and it was a joy. Hope that helps.

I ordered one in December-Red-although I waited until I test rode one before absolutely confirming the order. Test ride was fantastic. Picked mine up on 1st March, and despite the snow/ice/salt stopping me riding it at times, I've clocked up 300 (s)miles-brilliant -my poor old GS1200A is looking sorry for itself in the garage. The Speed Twin is a real riders bike. Yes, downsides are things like there is no adjustable suspension, and daft things like no centre stand. My ONLY criticism-it chucks a lot of muck up at the back-good reason to take wifey out, as she cops for it all... (wondering if there will be a 'hugger' for it..).

You’re right. It does chuck up a lot. A lot of Devon cow muck!! Never cleaned a bike so much, but it’s still great

I just finished reading a riders review of the new ST, in a Canadian magazine/ They loved it, and in the writers opinion, was a better choice than a Thruxton. Lighter, just as powerful and cheaper to boot! Basically the same bike, main difference being the styling!
