Hi Mate and Welcome to the Forum Get the bike back to the dealer, don't mess with it yourself, they should sort it out, that's the beauty of buying new.
Yep already have, triumph machanic took it out for a run, he stated there is a problem with the bike it keeps finding false neutrals . So now I’m waiting for a date for it to be looked at. So maybe this is nothing to do with the shifter but something else. So anyone having issues selecting gears I would suggest you take it in because clearly this is an issue and probably with more bikes than just mine. A friend of mines got the same problem
Oh dear! I must say that the Speed RS has had more than it's far share of problems as reading this forum will show , just hope they resolve yours quickly, on the bright side at least it is early in the year so better to get it done now.
Up date on my shifter issue. Bikes been into local dealer and everything checked over all was fine, then the triumph mechanic took the bike for a spin, he returned stating the bike isnt right and that it keeps finding false neutrals. So new parts were ordered , a plate and a spring for somewhere behind the clutch plate aparently . TRIUMPH Hickley were informed of this and they sent a machanic upto yorkshire to view and test ride my bike, again the bike was finding false neutrals, the bike was then taken to hickley to be put on the rolling road to identify whats causing my issues, the only communication ive had is with my local dealer, triumph havnt even had the decency to call me. Ive been without a bike for almost a week now, a d i dont know what they are doing to it or exactly where it is. Its appears to me that they are going to strip my engine tofind the problem. I pakd over 13000 grand for the bike, if they think they are returning it to me when they e done messing with it they can think again, i will be seeking legal advice on this matter, So to all you guys and girls thats bought a speed triple rs if you have had any issues selecting gears mainly 4th 5th 6th and when pining it a little please get i touch with your dealer , clearly there is an issue with them.
I understand and empathise with your situation and note the lack of communication Dangerous but what more could Triumph have done? The fact that they have gone to quite a bit of effort to resolve speaks good for them doesn't it? How about a polite email or communication to them pointing out their lack of direct communication and the fact that some recompense is in order for the loss of use. This doesn't necessarily have to be money, you could suggest something that suits you (Triumph jacket, future service vouchers etc.) as goodwill. Ask for a timescale for the successful return to you of the bike. The reason I say the above is Triumph was very understanding when a tyre change at 500 miles old pulled a chunk of paint off from under the balance weight. I was expecting a touch up stick and a bobble hat but no they promptly arranged a new wheel and disc bolts. Couldn't fault the service or actions of Triumph or Cobb and Jaggers.
Dangerous Get the bike back to the dealer and tell them to fix it or refund you. Sure its just some adjustment needed. But you buy a new bike you want it fit for purpose. Regards Joe.
Cheers mate. This is by no means the end of this hi joe, the bikes already been taken to Hinckley triumph so they can run on rolling road to find the fault, I’ve now been informed that they are possibly going to be removing the gear box to inspect. I know it’s good they are trying to sort for me, but really this shouldn’t be happening the bikes Brand new. I got it with zero mile and I’ve put 1500 in it. Gutted too because I tradered my mint 64 plate blade in for it.
I am so surprised at that and a little disappointed in Triumph. When I had my Sprint 955i which started cutting out for no reason. Triumph did the same a test rider came out and took it for a ride came back and said don't ride that bike its dangerous. Triumph phoned me and ask if I could get the bike to Jack Lilleys they even picked it up and took it there. Couple of days later they phoned and said go along to the shop and see them. They had a brand new one sitting there for me to pick up And yes my bike went back to Triumph for testing. Regards Joe.
Result in end for you then joe. Dangerous, when my bike keeps finding false neutral then limits, then all of a sudden finds a gear it lundges forward , on 2 occasions almost tipping the wife off the back, thank god she was holding on else I could be a widow. Compensation, new bike or my blade back will do lol
Dangerous I am right with you on this. And it makes it intolerable when your Good Lady could have been hurt. Then I to would be furious. And a bike that has been taken and messed around with no matter by who would not be enough for me. I would have a good solicitors letter in the post by now. And if it affected my darling wife I would be looking for a lot more. Regards Joe.
Well here’s an update on my RS. Taken from my home by triumph almost 3 weeks ago and taken to the factory after being test rode again by a triumph tech guy who confirmed my bike is selecting false neutrals all the time. Last I heard from my local dealer was that the bike was going to triumphs test track for testing, that was a few days ago, yesterday I was informed that the bike is now back in the factory. No one from triumph as been in touch to update me, I was speaking to a guy with a RS at a local bike cafe yesterday he also is having issues selecting 4th 5 th and 6 th, he was taking his back to the dealer today. So if you are having issues too please report to your dealer clearly this is becoming a bigger problem.
Christ mate this is turning into a saga, I know Triumph will want to find out what the issue is, especially if other bikes are reporting similar issues. I feel their customer service team should have replaced the bike and then done the investigations at their own speed, as it is you are left without a bike, that is simply not good enough when you have spent so much money on a new machine. Having read about so many problems with them I wouldn't even consider a Speed RS in the future!
My 765 with QS is perfect. Slick sweet and not had a false neutral yet. Like you say Andyc1 I don't see what the issue with the speeds are when they can engineer others well.
Dangerous. I would be totally fed up by now and I would be talking solicitors. You could explain this to the no win no fee solicitors or even MCM. totally unacceptable. You should not be left without a bike when you purchased a new machine and the fault is absolutely nothing to do with you. Not to mention how dangerous it could have been. Even have a talk to health and safety. Regards Joe.
I honestly thought I'd replied to you when I first looked at this thread, unfortunately I didn't, so here goes. Yes I'm having the same problem but it doesn't sound as extreme as yours, the dealer had a look at it last year but its still finding false neutrals "sometimes". I'm going to try switching it off and back on again then run it through all the gears for a few seconds in each gear, see if a reset will sort it out, failing that I'll be popping it back to the dealer, hopefully by now they'll of had more back and it will be an easy fix, like adjusting lever shaft maybe. Anyway I hope you get it sorted mate and if you find out the problem from triumph please share on here.
