Hello, does any of you fine people recommend an independent mechanic to do the 12k valve clearance check, don't even get the bike until next saturday but it has 10700mls on so 1300mls is only going to take me 6 weeks then it will be off the road because there is no way in this world i am paying over £300 that's if i had a job,the dealer is servicing it but they won't be doing them checks so will only want them looked at,this makes me so angry as my mt10 is only £170 minor and valve check £230,so if i can't get a 7yr old bike checked for less than £300 it's going to be sitting in my garage,a great way to enjoy triumph's again,i want to look forward to riding it.

Why not learn to do it yourself and save yourself the money in that case

I looked at videos on you tube and i would love to be able to do it myself, then i would never have another worry about buying any triumph in the future and i can do almost everything else, change and balance my own tyres BUT them video's scare me and i am not going to tackle it,just makes me so mad why can't it be as cheap as a 4 cyl jap bike, even when i had ktm's they brought the prices right down to jap levels.

I think he is out of retirement, isn’t @BB3Lions having his bike done by muddysump?

Hopefully sorted now, thanks everybody, muddysump is indeed back, been back since october[i don't do facebook] hopefully he is going to let me know when he's coming when he sorts out his national route and the best thing is if i only want 2 things done that's what he will do so hopefully well under £300.

jez,the 12000 service on triumph's is a valve clearance check and is in most cases £600 to £800 on a triumph, jap bike 3rd of that, this is why i wasn't going to have another, but makes no odds mate even if a bike of mine was in warranty i am not paying anywhere near £300 let alone £600.
