Installed mid controls on my 2018 Speedmaster. I did not really favor the forward controls on the speed master, especially on longer rides . The mid controls gives me a much more secure feeling of being in control of the motorcycle . Much more comfortable for me on longer rides . Have not scraped foot pegsl as hard as I’ve tried .I can really drive the speed master like a hooligan if I want now total control total confidence. If You’re considering it don’t hesitate. 2EBB5F08-425B-4705-8920-9783B1D898B9.jpeg

Hi and welcome...... not sure why you would buy a speedmaster if you did not want the forward controls, why not buy the T120?
    Still each to his own.

Believe it or not, I traded a 2018 T120 and a heavely financed 2015 Harley Davidson Road Glide for the Speedmaster. Always been a Harley owner but. The 2018 T120 was the first Triumph I had ridden in a long long time. Sold me on Triumph quality. Far better executed than HD. So I bought the Speedmaster because to me it looks so good and with a few mods rides like the T120.

Not at all. Two completely different appearances and I'm sure ride and handling different between the two. A great choice on your part. I have a wild dream of modifying a Speedmaster to resemble an old rigid frame bike. ie, mid mount controls, 18 inch wheels, peashooter mufflers, spring seat, full fenders with a center rib and fender stays and a large nacelle up top. The "looks" of a classic with all the benefits of a new bike. Maybe if I wait long enough Triumph will build it because doing it bitsa would probably cost $5K US.

I too loved the idea of mids on a speed master. I like the Cruiser feel and upright but I have short legs and the FC were quite a reach. I asked my local dealer if I could just order the mid controls from a bobber and he said he would happily trade me the mids off a bobber because everybody keeps asking him about buying FC on the Bobber.

I don’t own one but the speed master and now the speed twin are on my short list of next purchase

If I was in the market for a cruiser I'd choose the Speedmaster over the Bobber Black for the very comfortable rider seat, the greater tank range and the luggage carrying ability with that rear seat. I too would have Bobber foot controls installed to improve ground clearance, because I find scrapping the pegs a bit of an annoyance.

  9. I'll be damned! I didn't know that was an option. I really like the Speedmaster. In fact I was sitting on one at my dealership the other day. I found it much more comfortable a a bit better looking than the 120, but I hated the forward controls. Now that I know mid controls are an option I may be back in the Speedmaster camp.

Funny enough I asked that question when I bought my speedmaster, and even looked to see if I could get after market ones. The mag wheels on the speed twin is one of the factors on why I didn't buy the thruxton R......

Interesting post for me and thanks for the update. With the straight handlebars the mids are right there. Very well ;)

Agree with mid control you have a better riding position and feel of the bike. I’ve installed this on my speed master. Don’t scrape either on sharp turns.

Anyone sorted out a decent pillion seat? STD seat is a hard pill. My partner won’t ride with me on this seat. Hmm. That does have some advantages though...

I wonder if the Hinckley R&D people read this forum, it would speed up the development of future models if they did!

What, listen to people who ride their bikes. Will never happen, but a good thought........

I was questioned by a marker research team at the NEC last year prior to the new Street Twin launch.

They showed us the bike on a virtual reality headset and compared with some of their competitors we then had to answer a questionnaire about our likes dislikes etc.

Well I'm surprised. Mind they could not have asked about the speedmaster pillion seat as it is not fit for purpose. I've had my bike for 12 months and only carried a pillion once and they could not believe how uncomfortable the seat was.
