I was just curios to which motorbike magazine people buy on here if they do. I used to buy fast bikes and Pb mag religiously, but im trying to settle with just one a month now. I don't know if it's just because of the crappy weather lately, but i end up popping into whsmith to buy one mag and end up walking out with 5 different motorbike magazines at the moment, which the misses isn't too happy with. :frown:

I don't read any. I had a subscription to Bike but stopped it a few years ago.

Had plenty over the years. I now buy Ride and Motorcycle Sport and Leisure. I sometimes buy MCN if the content grabs me, but not often these days.

I think i need to go to magazines anonymous or something then. I'm buying every MCN that comes out and at least 3-4 bike magazines a month at the moment. Think i need to start getting back out on the bike now, instead of buying magazines to compensate for not riding.

Try assessing how much you spend on bike mags per year.

Then convert that cost into gallons of petrol.

Then work out how far you could have ridden the bike on the gallons of fuel wasted by buying the mags.

Then go hit your head against the wall for being a plonker wasting money of rubbish mags that regurgitate the same dross over and over.

If you are interested in a bike.........dont read about it........ride it.

There are quite a few offers through 'Great Magazines' and Tesco club card vouchers. My current subscription for MCN is less than a £1.00 per week, as I only have it over the winter its going to cost me about £25.00 or to use Col's logic one decent ride out on my bike which would now dissolve under the onslaught of road salt.

My adventure bike isn't feeling very adventurous and is staying tucked up under blankets and a cover in the garage hooked up to a optimate at least for a few more weeks.

Ha ha, yes your absolutely right. I do try and ride out most weekends no matter what the weathers like, even if it's just a short ride to the local bike shop.
Saying that, i have been a bit lazy the past couple of months, and i've only been out a couple of times.

And yes i have added it up how much i spend on magazines a year, and not just bike ones. And it's a scary thought :frown:

You read one issue of Bike, Ride, PB etc and you have read them all. Same style, same rubbish, same concentration on performance bikes, same dire reviews.

MCN is repetitive, with an interesting cover but when you get i side its the same speculative dross as the week befores issue.

How on earth can the mags rate the Beamer RT as the best tourer, its bland, has a tractor gearbox and an engine that needs gearshifting continuously to make any progress. Yep, mags are best avoided.

I started reading mags when thinking about getting my bike, however now I would not touch them as the net has everything on every bike, ride, build and a lot of it is interactive so a much better option. You can also pick it up easily enough on your mobile device. Internet over magazine anyday.

I used to get performance bikes on subscription for many years , but these days I just get the occasional ride magazine . However , the other week I got a copy of an adventure touring magazine that had a write up about going round the Alps & it was a pretty decent read. I'm planning a little excursion up to the Alps in June time so it was quite relevant . I wouldn't subscribe to one again though but sometimes its quite nice to flick through one I guess

I pay £1 a week for MCN and reading a bit every lunch time it takes me about a week to get through it.
Bike and Motorcycle Sport and Leisure are on subscription as Christmas/birthday presents.
If I was buying them myself I probably wouldn't have so many.
