Hi Steve welcome to the Asylum you should fit right in. To keep the inmates happy we will need photos. Tucker
Hi Tucker Sorry for the late reply,I’ve just gone for the Tors and kept everything else for now, you’re right they are subtle but I like that, you can creep up and then go whap !! Happy new year.
Hi Steve and Welcome. I'm also a recent newbie to this forum, and I'm also about to return to air cooled having just put a deposit on a 2007 Bonneville Carb (hopefully arriving within a couple of weeks). I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on your bike, and any pictures?
Hi MrB I originally had a 2004 se,it was a 790 cc I put Triumph aftermarket pipes on it and some other extras,it sounded lovely, the 09 se I have now is very different,865cc injected but it is lower with the smaller front wheel and lower seat height,I find it a bit more manageable, still very much old school, the only picture I have at the moment is when I purchased it from the dealer, hope you enjoy your new bonnie, keep us posted how you get on.
That's a beauty, congratulations! I'm really looking forward to getting the Bonnie, but it will be frustrating waiting for decent riding weather.
I've just removed my sai, 02, and snorkel from my 2011 t100 efi. I have tors fitted. The bike runs a little better but I still chug at 5400 revs. I hope a remap will sort it. I cant afford the crazy price ttp want just now. If you would care to donate a copy to me I would be extremely grateful.
I've had the Bonneville for almost 5 months now and really enjoying it, more than I thought I would. I previously had a Street Cup, then a Bobber and the plan was to keep both the Bobber and the Bonneville, however a new business and now being self employed meant that for the time being having two bikes was an extravagance. I absolutely loved the Bobber, but it was the Bonneville that I decided to keep. So this was the Bonneville as it was when I originally got it: And this is how it is now: Changes made: Polished aluminium mudguards Tail tidy Bullet indicators Vickers silencers Oberon foot pegs Triumph oval mirrors Braided stainless brake hoses New gel seat Grab rail AIS removal K&N filter 118 main jets It runs and sounds great now Steve, how are you getting on with yours?
I have the same mods and the same re-map as steve lovatt above and agree with everything he says. In my case this (rather expensive) upgrade had to be done at all costs because the bike (SE 2011) was basically unrideable due to extreme snatchiness at low RPM, abnormal engine brake etc. The difference is incredible (except the TORS which indeed could be louder, however they are required for the TTP re-map). Another option if you are short on money after the purchase and would like to wait a bit, is to still get the TORS (often on offer from Triumph) and just flash the 20505 map from TuneECU, this also made a big difference.
Mr B Have you pulled the snorkel and gutted the air box baffle? It will run with 128 jets then and produce about 10% more mid range torque with no noticeable effect on fuel economy.
No, it still has the snorkel and no air box modification. The silencers, rejet and filter made a big improvement, allowing it to rev more freely and acceleration is much improved. I had thought about the TTP Breath, and maybe will in the future. Callumity, I have you to thank for the pointer to the Vickers silencers...they sound really good, and the burble/growl on overrun always make me smile
You are welcome...... Being a bit of a tight wad I decided to experiment before splashing out on the Breathe......after all, most of my riding is not wide open throttle so ‘good enough’ was ok by me. The limiting factors for airflow are the mouth of the filter, turbulence and the inner baffle which mostly cuts down induction roar......of which there is precious little anyway. So, if you pull out the rubbery snorkel you gain immediately and see the OEM oval is only marginally larger than the filter it holds in place....it has to be. So.......next smoothe the airflow. I profiled the outer face of mine with ordinary silicone. Apply one fat bead and leave to cure then apply a second and finish with a J shape piece of card/plastic/lead(!) to create an even bell flare to the pseudo Venturi you have made The baffle will pull out with a heat gun but I unscrewed the airbox and re-sealed with silicone so I can now re-instate everything come the dread day I sell. It works beautifully with 128 main jets and a minor tweak on the air screw to minimise overrun popping.
