Afternoon all and Happy New Year to you and yours. Just been out for my traditional first ride of the year and to thoroughly test the newly fitted x pipe...just wow! I've had the bike since new in 2016, but only just discovered the forum, clearly lots of useful info and decent banter on here. In case anyone is mildly interested, some of the changes made to date are: Ohlins rear shocks and upgraded fork internals, fitted and set up by MCT Suspension TEC silencers with Weslake x-pipe (cheers Tony Richardson) Rizoma fat bars and lower risers Short levers Rizoma pegs, rider and pillion Analog tail tidy Blacked out several components to remove anything too shiny and removed the Street Twin stickers (I just couldn't live with them!) Triumph floating front disc to be fitted this weekend. Having moved from a Tuono V4 to the trumpet, I was concerned I would miss the speed. Two years in and I haven't enjoyed a bike as much as this since my first one when I was a child. It is just proper old fashioned fun. Cheers DJ
Welcome to the Asylum you should fit right in.. Great looking bike and in the best colour BLACK Tucker
Welcome DJ. Nice looking ST mate. I see you're still on Phantoms. I'd highly recommend Avon 3D Storm when you come to change. You'll find they transform the ride.
D J Welcome to the Family. That black steed will go down a real treat with the inmates. Ride Safe Joe.
hi just joined myself, same bike ,got the tec silencers too ,love em does the x pipe make any difference.thinking about that next.got hagen shocks on theback ,thinking about progressive springs on the front ,any opinions?
Hi Fletch, welcome along. The x-pipe makes a huge difference in sound, which is exactly what I was after. I have done the last two DGR and was one of the quietest bikes, this year I will definitely be heard! Throttle seems a little less fluffy too, but that may be a placebo effect from the noise. Re fork springs, I would recommend seeking the advice of a suspension specialist as there aren’t any off the shelf solutions which work for everyone. I wanted a sharper handling bike and MCT worked out best Ohlins rear shocks for my weight and riding style and matched the forks up. No replacement springs in forks, just changed a few components and oil to suit. The handling is now exactly how I wanted it. Professional set up isn’t very expensive for what it achieves.
Cheers LTF, I don’t mind the Phantoms as an occasional lack of grip adds to the fun. The last couple of weeks with traction off have been very entertaining! I will need replacements in the spring though, so will try something different.
Both bikes have two wheels and are matte black, but that is pretty much all they have in common. The Tuono was completely mental and I struggled to keep below warp speed. Did several track days which were great, but ultimately after three years of ownership it was time to find a different way to enjoy riding. When I parked the Tuono in town, people would avoid eye contact and walk away shaking their heads. I park up the Trumpet and people smile and come over to talk to me about it, it is universally loved and considered a “proper bike”. I rather like that......
Fitted floating front disc at the weekend and finally found a graphic to replace the Street Twin on side panels. Every time I ride this bike, the more I appreciate how lucky I am to own it.
Interested in your blacking out, I fancy changing some of the grey on the headlight and handlebars to black or chrome, any tips? Did you just peel the street twin stickers?
