Hi, I returned to riding this year after a 17 year break. Like you I also sought some brush up training, and after collecting my bike I spent a Sunday morning in an empty car park familiarising myself with my bike and brushing up on slow speed handling. I was suprised with how easy to ride modern Triumphs are, I found the handling is superb and really inspires confidence.

You are going to love your new bike, congratulations and enjoy...

Whereabouts are you based or where do you like to ride?
Must be someone on here that can keep you company ;)

To anyone who fancies rideouts from Squires (cafe in North Yorks) I'd be happy to meet up and lead a few (not all as I like seeing others routes)?

    Welcome, Notso.

Couple of ideas--remember you go where your eyes go. Get your head around to the direction of your turn and look where you want to go.

Plan your escape routes when pulling up behind stopped cars at intersections. Don't get caught directly behind a car and too tight to get around the car in front front if the car coming behind doesn't stop.

Think there are quite a few in your area Gaz, maybe start a thread in the Rideouts section for the New Year. Possible meet ups or ride outs, am sure you'll get something started there ;);)

Hi, I got a Bonnie after a 20 year gap in 2014 and its true you don’t forget how to ride so all good there... main thing is these days cars and vans drive at speeds higher than is comfortable on a classic style bike so I keep frequent eyes on the mirrors for the drivers intent on madcap overtaking ...and to keep my family ‘happier’ I wear a hi viz vest jacket or vest and either my white or fluo yellow helmet in an attempt to be more visible to the blind drivers on our roads...perhaps spoils the ‘biker’ image a bit but I’m luckily too old to bother and just enjoy the fun of the ride... Enjoy !

I would be careful. One on the right is probably 2,500 cc.
