Weren't they just feckin awesome. Went to RAC Rally in 1986, last year of Grp B. Had to get my mum to drop us to Chatsworth Park, sat in the cold for hours waiting for car to arrive. Heard them 10 minutes before you saw them, the flames lighting up the tree's 1/2 mile away. Deafening as they went past, all flames and turbo chatter and the most glorious noise.

I loved the GpB era of Rallying, despite the dangers, my alltime favourite car was the Lancia Stratos, closely followed by the Audi Quattro S2, awesome cars, watched many a RAC rally jus to see them cars, Magic!

I knew i wasnt alone, sat in the wet and dark in 1983 near Cannock Chase.
Its a shame reallyu, whilst Group B was mental. Controlling the crowds was surely more imprortant than dumbing down the cars

Standing in Grizedale forest at midnight in sub zero conditions, easy peasy!

When group B was banned the remaining 6R4's were sold off for £13k each. Most went to rallycross. Will Gollop ran one for a few years, as did Matti Alamaki IIRC.

My local forest, I’d just go and watch, then in later years (about ‘88) I had the pleasure of marshalling Grizedale... just awesome seeing them drifting through the corners whilst already setting for the next two at speed... the gravel skittering by a few moments later as the roar of the beasts became less of an assault! Bloody amazing!

The Quattro S1 Sport was the Group B star for me. Just the sound of it makes your neck hairs stand on end.

I loved the sound of the v6 metro 6r4... here’s a really fun video of Colin McRae giving one a proper bit o’ wellies like his dad did when they were the main rally car beast. The laughs say it all...

Aye, watched Will Gollop in his 6R4 going head-to-head with Martin Schanche's RS200 many times in rallycross at Lydden and Brands Hatch.

Many tears ago I attended an automotive technical training course at the British Leyland factory at Cowley. Wandering around I can across this lot parked up complete with keys but all without ECMs.

It was the 200 built for homologation.
