The engine management light has come on ,triumph sprint 955 2000 and wont go out I have tried the start cold/cycles recommended on this site but no joy.The dealers computer is not showing any codes/recognising bike .Bike is running fine.Can the ecu just pack in and bike no longer runs?? thanks for any helpful suggestions.

    Sorry mate, can't help you with this problem although one of our many experts should be able to do so. May I wish you a very warm welcome to the forum.

    thanks for the replies, yes cold till fan comes on.anyway just back from hospital .took it out on monday had new tyre fitted,taking it easy ,bike started ok a couple of miles along road @ 30-40 then getting sluggish likely to stall giving it more throttle back wheel spins up,combination of new tyre ,greasy road ,poor riding and bike skids down the road one way and I go the other way.when it stopped there was a very strong smell(ok,ok) maybe electrical? an AA man who stopped also commented.
    I'm bruised ,bashed and broken thumb ,the bike smashed fairings, levers etc.Need to decide if worth saving 70,000 miles w reg and new tyre.
    Is it likely/possible the engine management system/ecu unit would cause it to run badly or is it more likely another issue dirty fuel etc.
    I will get a chance to look at bike later in week

    Cycles worked for my 99 Tiger, did you run it up and let the fan kick in then let it get real cool before repeating without touching anything but the kill switch ?

    hello again,maybe didnt let it get cool enough and used key to stop.but too recap the missing post this might all be irrelevant now.
    Got back from hospital last night after taking bike out on monday and new tyre fitted, travelled a couple of miles @30-40 mph and bike is not pulling smoothly,spluttering almost stalling gave extra revs to try and get going and the back wheel spins up,combination of new tyre,greasy road and poor riding results in skid with bike going one way and me another.Bike smashed fairings ,levers etc ,me bruising and broken thumb.An AA man and passing motorist assisted and commented there was a very strong smell (ok,ok) this was maybe electrical?
    Could ecu/engine management light be involved in poor/erratic running ?or more likely dirty fuel etc ;
    Phoning insurance company today ,write -off or repair ,w reg 70,000 miles and new tyre!
    will let you know

    I reckon insurance will just write it off, we live in a chuckaway world. Saw a 2010 BM sports rr for salvage on ebay the other week, 7000 miles, written off with 3 marks to the plastics a scuffed zorst and broken footrest, either insurance companies are only employing idiots as assessors or 20ks worth of beemers are unfixable, its a joke.

    In your case with 70 thou up on the bike I'd have give every connector on the bike a going over before I rode it any distance as with its age and mileage I'd be expecting a few issues as you dont know how well its been looked after (apart from polishing).
