my TTR was equipped with the cafe faring which includes the lower clipons. After a few months i reinstalled the std bars that the dealer took off. I found it much more comfortable and stayed with them. Of course the dealer said that the std bars would hit the Brembo reservoir and fairing. Just a few tweeks of the bracket on the reservoir was all that was needed. About 1” clearance to the fairing lock to lock.

On the standard Thruxton if you use the standard bars you have to lower them by roughly 8mm posted by someone a while ago.
I tried this and it felt way more uncomfortable than the lowered bars, so I’m sticking with the lowered bars

My 2016 Triumph Thruxton R. Purchased last year as a left over model. Been very busy so she only has 145 miles so far. I know shameful but next year I'll get her out and put another 100 miles on her. LOL. Very nice ride. A much different ride from my old 68' Triumph TR6C.

Oh that wet spot! That's where I was pressing the tickler (too many times) and trying to start her. Found that the pilot jet was clogged with our lovely Ethanol petrol. After a clean out she started fine. I run high octane ethanol free whenever I can but it's not always available here. The highest octane available from most petrol stations in upstate NY is 91 octane. 93 octane is rare. You have to hunt for it.

Anyone aware of a high-flow, reusable filter for the Thruxton R? I can't find a KN filter for the R ... which is what I usually use for my bikes.

We used BMC filters on the race 675’s they are recommended by Triumph, they do make them for the Thruxton look on eBay but not the cheapest

The weather was miserable but I had a grin from ear to ear! What a bike!! So pleased and can’t believe how much I like it compared to the Scrambler!

Was sad to see scampi go but was definitely the right decision!

Get ready for plenty more pics!

    Cheers chaps ride safe!

You know what, it’s amazing how a few small things completely change the look of the bike, have fun with it as I have with mine.
I’ve changed most things on mine if you need any advice
I’ve got a few bits if you do want anything

just got back with my gleaming thruxton from a 50 mile round trip, it rained on the way home and is about 5 degrees but i still enjoyed every minute of it, my new triumph leather jacket and trousers and my new alpine stars fastback trainers kept me bone dry, as for the new shoei helmet that was fantastic too, and i got a dirty bike to clean so its all good….,,, thats one thing you have to to accept living in the uk, when it rains it rains good and hard…and of course i was in rain mode……. its a nice bike even in the rain….. whoop whoop……!

That looks good Spacefrog, do you agree that some of the colour schemes really suit the R and some really suit the Standard but not both.
Although you would think that they’d suit both as that not hugely different to look at.
    Strange

Yes Glyn but if its the green you are referring to then maybe its that the colour of the forks and shocks go better with the black than they do the green, but at the end of the day , when you are riding you can only see the tank and nothing else……i do like the green but as has been said in this forum a few times, its got to be black for a triumph, but each to their own, sometimes the price and availability of a machine whether new or second hand can play a part in what colour you end up with, as it happened i got both the colour i like and a price i liked too….

No it isn’t just the green, some colours like the white suits the R but not the S but why? The Matt black suits the R and the gloss suits the S, the green S not R the red R not S it’s just strange that they look so different on essentially the same bike
