Getting myself a 955i daytona after doing some work on a mates old one then doing some work on my kwak and busting a few chocolate bolts in the cam caps that now have me dropping the motor out so I can get at them with the drill. But enough of that, I need some info please.

I've always had 'sports' type bikes as they suit my posture and style, I'm a fogie but ride like a 25 year old and dont like sit-up n beg type bikes, now looking through the triumph offerings for me this looks about the bees knees and hopefully I'll be trying for an 04 onwards, so, apart from cosmetics/tyres is there much to look out for and am I choosing the 'right' model.

I've also had a look at triumph rat.net and noticed the main problems on these 900's seem to be all electrical, now having fettled one for my pal are there many mechanical disasters out there to look out for and am I choosing the best of the model years.

Thats about it, I've had bikes off n on for 40 years so not green around the gills but never had a triple and really fancy one to take me to my pension. TIA, Hazzo

Hi Hazzo and welcome to the forum.

Never had one of the later models but really enjoyed my T595 for the time that I had it and always thought that they were a nicer looking bike than the later models.

There are still quite a few out there with low mileage so always best to go for one of these

    Cheers

Thanks for the welcome folks, theres a few advertised but a lot are hi-milers though that doesn't bother me too much if they've been well sorted/looked after, I've been a kwak man since 85 as they'd stolen the triumph design engineer but quality seems to have nose dived over recent years and I was impressed by the build on the 595 I worked on apart from the early drain pipe centre frame spar so looking for an external frame bike.

Compared to my 900r these seem to be on par performance wise and I haven't found a bad review on them so hopefully it'll come about before the weather gets better.

If your looking for a good one I saw this at my local Honda dealers. Really tidy bike and low mileage.
Still think you could knock £400 or so off of the price as well if you were interested.

    Cheers

Yeah I've seen that its just a bit far from me here in the NE, theres two in dealerships up here with similar mileage but those want a good screw for 10 year old bikes too so I'll bide my time. I missed a good one on ebay classified with low miles/good price as it had just sold when I rang. Thought there might have been some in the for sale section here but my luck doesn't appear to be in. I did have a quick look at the bike at Farnham Honda and it was in fantastic condition for it's age. I do know that these guys would be happy to ship it up to you as I also had a friend in Edinburgh who brought a couple of bikes off of them.

Might be worth giving them a call at least and this time of year is always the best time to buy a bike as salesmen have a bit of a lean period in the winter.

    Cheers

Yeah Steve I try to buy in Winter but I'm no dealer fan as I know I'm being ripped a new arsehole, I'm gonna keep my eyes open for a private sale till the end of january if theres nothing comes along I'll have to give my dough to a dealer.
