Yo Sam two different bikes there me thinks. Front similar but not the same as my 1963 Triumph Thunderbird. I think the welded brace under top tube was added in 1966. Before that it was bolted. Rear section 40's 50's maybe even earlier. Looks like someone was going to hard tail it for a chop etc. As yer know frame number the clue. BSA frames roughly same. If anyone has a BSA twin restoration manual it will say in there. You could contact Triumph owners Club and BSA owners Club historians. I found Velocette historian very helpful without joining club. Triumph frames started with D from 1960 DU from 1963 - 69. Then, new coding system meaning month and model year.

THEN... From my Triumph Twin Restoration by Roy Bacon, BG would appear to be February. G means Aug 71-July 72, so Feb 72 would be my interpretation of that. Phew, have yer got an hard question heh heh heh...sorry rear section not a clue. :upyeah:

Then..as regards model, T100, TR6, or T120 as BG would go on all those. BUT oil in frame started on some models also in 1972. Yours isn't so maybe Feb 72 is right? t. As I said get this confirmed by Triumph historian Sam they usually have ALL factory records :smile:

 

If you wish to get a log book you would HAVE to go through the Triumph owners Club but I think there would be too many high hurdles. I'm not sure that's possible without it being a full bike. Engine, frame, pencil rubbings of frame and engine when I last did it, again ask TOCC Historian or enquire on their website. Good Luck

 

Not sure what it is, but it most certainly isn't a 1972 frame as that would be an oil in frame model (with twin down tubes at the front), which yours isn't!!

Ok, not much help, I know, but it does eliminate the later models - 1971 onwards.
