Clarkey, looks like you'll be having a blast in the last of the summer sunshine... you go careful on the wet leaves with all that power though ;-). Had a our first 'moment' of the season last week as a gentle reminder that rear tyres don't grip on so well on those slippy little devils.

This weekend however, is mostly spent trying to figure out how to get this burned-on plastic off the exhaust of my Speedmaster!

Just got back from a nice 130 mile ride
    Loved it image.jpg
Unionfan thanks for the advice but I have just sold my 08 fireblade for this 1050 so I think I will be able to handle the power
    LOL :)

00 gauge wire wool and nail varnish remover (the type with nasty stuff in - is it acetate?)

It worked on my America and didn't scratch the chrome. Took a bit of elbow grease as well though.

I was told to get the pipe hot and use a plastic scraper to get the worst off then use the wire wool and nail varnish remover.

I'd use MER and a few 'plastic' type scourers, not the metal type. It gets tar off of paint.

AutoGlym chrome cleaner is good but I'd go with MER. Not Auto paste it scratches.

Never a doubt in my mind you couldn't cope Clarkey :) ... and I hope you had a great time.

PLUS big thanks to the advice from other forum users on cleaning the burned plastic off the hot exhausts. Used hot air gun and an oily rag and here's the result! Very happy.

    Hi guys

Not been on here for a while so though i'd say Hi. Well my Daytona 600 pretty much died on me so yesterday I picked up my 2011 tiger 1050. love the triple sounds great, gear box is a little questionable but hoping to get a good ride out this weekend to get more of a feel for it.

will get some pics up tonight

Went to visit a chap I have got to know at one of the bike meets to have a look at his bikes last night ...... Bloody hell this bloke has around 50+ restored classic and modern classic bikes.

    He has 4 Norton Commando's.

4 or 5 late BSA A65's of different versions including a Hornet Scrambler.

2 very nice Suzuki GT 750's, a GSX 1100 and some very early GSXR's and a few GT 550's.

An early 1200 Daytona with the 1000 5 spoke 18in wheel that had only done 10000 miles.

3 Z1's including a very nice early model and 5 or 6 KH 500's as well as a couple of KH 500's that have been turned to 4 cylinder versions that are meant to be a complete animal to ride.

Honda CBX, CB 900's, VF1000f, Yamaha XS 1100 and there were a load more but too many to remember.

The best part of this is that he still rides most of his bikes.

Really good to see someone restoring and riding these bikes and happy to share his knowledge with others.

My favourite was the Norton P11 (like in the picture) which had a Norton Atlas in a Matchless lightweight G85cs frame that was sold by Norton as a desert racer mainly for the US market. Would really like one of these in my garage

We had a trip out yesterday. 300 miles round trip through mid and North Wales. Only real problem was the gusty wind. The Trophy was a dream and lapped up the miles. Great fun.

Took my 1050 out again as I'm away for a few days so won't be able to ride it again till the weekend
But my indicators stopped flashing so will need to get that sorted ( see separate story on the forum )

Leaving at 10am for a run up to Buxton and back. It's quite windy but the sun is out. We will have to look out for falling branches etc. the Trophy handles very well in windy conditions so looking forward to the run.

Just back from Buxton. Plenty of showers this afternoon, but we didn't get too wet. Not to much traffic on the roads. So it was a good day out.
