Thanks to one and all. The roads northwest and north of here are interestingly technical in some areas. We're very fortunate to have this close. You however, live closer than I to true Nirvana in the form of the Ozarks ! I've gone there to ride annually since 2000. In fact my avatar was taken in the Ozarks.
Could not agree more. I get up into NW Arkansas every chance I get. There are lot's of great roads with far less traffic than some of the more well known roads in other parts of the country. I did get down there to ride the sisters last year and really looking forward to the trip again. Great area to ride also
That is something I need to work on a lot. I see the pics some of the other riders post and I realize my eyes are not calibrated for seeing those great shots. I pretty much suck as a photographer but I am practicing to take better pics when I am out there scooting around.
Yes, the Twisted Sisters are good roads and the hilly country and roads NW of San Antonio keep me thankful (although the “concrete is slowly creeping “ to quote Lynard Skynard) but the asphalt roller coasters in NW Arkansas keep me looking forward to my annual trip there all year. I am SO looking forward to using the new S3R up there next spring. Nirvana!!! The corners ARE the juice !
Actually, I found a pic of the T120 I traded in (with a 2104 FZ09) for the S3R. I couldn’t afford a new 1969 Bonneville in high school with my Macdonalds job (as I remember they were in the $1300 range) but could manage a CB77. (If you know what that is then you may be close to my age.) so I tried to bring the 2017 Bonneville close to appearing 1969. How’d I do ??
Hey, I remember the Honda 305cc CB77. One guy I knew put a Read Titan kit on his CB77 which improved the performance as it took the engine capacity from 305cc to 350cc. Don’t know if the kits were available over in the USA.
Not sure about Read Titan kits, but everybody and their brother made hop up kits for the 305 in California (where I grew up). I kept mine stock and put on European OEM CB77 bars. I could drag the center stand tang in fast corners. I wish I had kept it.
I think you did an awesome job. The Bonneville is a classic from every angle. I remember well the Hondas of the early sixties. The older HS age cool kid down the road had a 305 Dream. My brothers and I had a Super 90. To us at that time the 305 was a big bike and way outside of anything we could afford. Thanks for the bringing back the memories of my much younger days.
Happy to be of service. I still have a warm spot in my heart for 2 strokes and ANY pre-1970 Honda. I occasionally consider buying a restored older bike but I’ve reached the point in life that it has dawned on me that I will not be able to ride forever. This leads me to fuel injection and electronic ignition, etc cause I just wanna ride, ride, ride until they hide the keys from me.
Hi, Just joined the Forum. I've had a 2007 Sprint ST ABS for the past 4 years and also have a 1979 Honda CBX1000Z which I have owned for 22 years. My Sprint died on me this morning! I tried to bump start it with no joy, so had to call out the Mrs for a Jump start. As I was riding the 5 miles home, the ABS light came on, followed by the instruments gong blank and loss of power. The engine eventually went to idle, but I managed to coast the last 1/4 mile to home - lucky or what!! I have diagnosed a Reg/Rec failure - seems to be fairly common? There are a lot of replacement parts out there with massively varying prices. Any recommendations for replacement?
Kevin that's a bit of a bummer. I did think that around that time that the Sprints had a recall to change the dodgy reg's. And Hailwood6 I'm with you there. Ride Safe Joe

I had a black Super 90 before I had the Super Hawk (aka CB77). You could rev the tits off the 90 and it just came back for more. Those were the days when you just reved it until it stopped making power. “It’s more fun to ride a slow bike quickly than ride a fast bike slowly.” - unknown wag .
I cannot agree more with you. My lust for old bikes is still with me but I too am am at an age where I prefer to be riding more than wrenching. I can't save them all so I prefer to be riding the Trophy with all of the things you mentioned that just makes it more enjoyable. One day I will probably have to give it up but that day ain't here yet.
