New to the site, currently riding a Ducati, but time has come to slow down, interested in a Triumph Thunderbird, are there any known repair issues with this bike? Thanks
Welcome in Tucker B Slowing down comes to us all. If you look hard and long enough you'll find issues with every bike the more you look the worse it gets, I have a 1600 Tbird no issues as yet just lovely to ride feels good, heavy bike but not when its moving and believe me it moves, looks good and more grunt than I need. Give it a go mate
Welcome to the Asylum you should fit right in. Tbird in BLACK you can't go wrong with BLACK .The Only issue I found is they Do other Colours . Tucker
Hi Tucker - Welcome to the forum! I agree completely with TEZ. I love all of them, but my butt is very particular about what I ride and the Thunderbird is a very comfortable and capable bike. I have a 2014 Commander model (1700 cc) with a sidecar, but I put some miles on it before mating the sidecar, and loved it on 2 wheels. My only 'nit' with this bike is the same I have with almost all of them. The manufacturers could try a lot harder to make the routine service items easy for the owner to do. Outside of that, it's the second most comfortable bike I've had in exactly 50 years of riding bikes. Good luck with your decision!
Hi I have a 2016 T'Bird LT and love it, great for touring or blasting about on a Sunday morning. You need to decide on which T'Bird you want and then go for it as they are all good. Wessa
I also have a '12 T-Bird 1600. Several bikes have come and gone since that bike, but the T-Bird is still in my garage. I've not had any issues, but several reports of MAP tubes cracking and causing drivability issues. It's an easy fix. Also stock Metzler tires are shot in 5K miles, but so what.... replace them with something else. It handles nicely for a big bike, but yes, it's heavy to push around. The LTs & Commanders are a bit harder to work on for the DIYer.
Hi Tucker. I'm new to the site too (first day on it) and I got my TBird one year ago (after having a Daytona 650). The only problem I've had is that it's such a great bike I can't stop riding it and the decorating ain't getting done! Just make sure you save up for the 12000 mile service which apparently is very expensive. I'd say go for it and you won't look back.
Hi Tucker Welcome, I have ridden all sorts of bikes over the years and currently have a BMW 1000XR which puts a huge smile on my face. I also have a 12 plateT Bird with loads of goodies and that also puts just as big a smile on my face, only in a different way!!! At the end of the day it has two wheels and and as much grunt as you will ever need.
