Hi Steve and welcome to the forum

How old is the bike as I thought that Triumph had a recall of these bikes to stop a similar rattle, might be worth checking with your dealer that the work has been done

    All the best

Perhaps take it to another local dealer and ask for their opinion? Trouble is if it only does it when staring after being stood a long time only you are going to hear it.

From memory the Explorer recall that took place in January ish this year replaced the bucket shims in the head as they were a bit noisy (but that was all the tima and not just at start up)

The other thing about Triumphs is that they are a lot more mechanical sounding than the Honda (which I actually like). Of course it is always very difficult to tell without actually hearing the bike do it, so most of this is guess work

    Cheers

    Steve

I just started my Explorer after it has stood for three weeks, no noises that could be due to lack of oil in any bearings.

I am a mechanical Engineer hence not too bothered, it sounds similar to the ST I had.

If you can leave it for a week or so and then use the camcorder on the mobile phone to record video of the engine starting, then use the evidence.

As the bike is new it is still under warranty, if the dealer cannot resolve contact Triumph direct
