I am looking at removing the baffle from my stock pipe on the Thruxton R. Can someone here guide me through the process. There doesn't seem to be any fasteners I can see on the silencer. Thanks in advance.

There isn’t any real baffling in the R mufflers. Just some inner construction to move the gases around. Take a torch and look in there from both sides. Nothing to remove.

Thanks Phil. I guess I can cross that idea off the list. I am waiting for my Race Kit to arrive. Hopefully, the Vance and Hines will sound nice and throaty.

It should. Have you considered a de-cat x-pipe?

What's is that exactly? Would this affect the performance of the engine? Would this be a bolt on and bolt off mod?

Hey crispey. Saw a video on YouTube with x-decat with Vance and Hines pipe. Man does it sound good. The install look kinda tough. This will be my next mod once I work the nerve to do so.

Did some googling and I think I am gonna order the Meerkat Cross pipe. Anyone here have Meerkat cross pipe on there bike? What's your take? I see that the cross pipe also increases the torque by 7%. How does that 7% increase in torque translate in real world performance?

I wrote a write up somewhere here. Just Search X-pipe. There’s lots of info. Very doable but having a buddy with you makes it easier. Sound better, torque better. Bike runs cooler and pipes cool much faster. No down side. I got the one from BC Customs. Uses same tange and mounting as orig cat. Nice welds and overall construction. All choices are about the same IMO.

Be aware that fitting an x-pipe on the TTR is a relatively big job, due to the requirements for disassembly. Make sure you know what's involved before taking it on yourself.
