year Hi all, new member here. I'm considering a Triumph Tiger ZRT for my next bike to replace a 19 year old Suzuki SV650S. I've been to my local dealer and viewed the demo bike, and I have to say I'm very impressed with the bike overall, although I'll have to get the seat lowered a little. I'm planning on a test ride next weekend. I quite fancy the PCP deal, mainly so I can change to a new model in a couple of years or so, but I'm open to finance if the price works out OK, I'd even consider an older model depending on price. I'm a "born again" biker after a 15 year break. I'm not into fast bikes anymore I'm more into the comfort aspect these days and after sitting on the Tiger it feels just right. I'd appreciate any comments from owners who have experience on the Triumph PCP deals or anything else Triumph for that matter. This will be my first ever Triumph. Thanks for the replies. I'm considering the tiger 800. The dealer recommended it as it's probably the right bike for me, but then dealers would say that! I have to say though that the deals on offer are very tempting especially with low rate finance on offer and warranties etc. I returned to biking after a very long discussion with myself (and even longer discussion with the wife) and after a mate died pretty young at work. I suddenly realised that life is for living and its something i needed to do again. I have considered loads of bikes including the Yamaha MT09 Tracer, Vstrom 1000 and Kawasaki Versys 1000, I tend to be an impulse buyer and if it feels right I just do it.
Welcome to the forum! I was in a similar situation and did the impulse buy. I've always liked Triumphs since the 60's. That's my age talking, because back then, they were the only 'cool' bike. I bought an America, Trophy SE, and T-Bird Commander in a four year span. I got some spectacular deals on each of them and really good trade-in prices which allowed me to do this. I went for previous year models and the T-Bird was on loan to a magazine for ~1,400 miles, but I bought it as a new bike. I really loved each one and they were great in the test rides, but the America and Trophy killed my butt after about 2 to 3 hours. The T-Bird is a dream to ride and very comfortable. My point is that you should decide what type of riding you want to do and test drive or rent that style/model of bike as long as you can. If you're only going out for an hour or two at a time, any of them will work if you're comfortable with the riding position. However, if you want to do a longer trip - think hard about your decision.

Thanks for the great welcome, and the replies. I'm considering the Tiger due to the fact I'm after something more comfortable. I have done a Renthal bar conversion on the SV which has transformed the bike, but the fact remains it's still a 19 year old bike and now it's developed a deceleration misfire for some reason. Do I throw good money after bad? I've never had a brand new bike before so I have to say I'm tempted, in a bg way. I'll do the test ride thing next weekend then give it some serious thought.
Welcome from Germany, Paul! A couple of years back, I owned an 800. It is a stunning bike and I would always prefer it to the 1200 for weight-reasons, but that‘s just a personal preference... I am 180 (cm) in height, and the low version was just right for me. I had the the XC but next time would choose the even lower XR... Anyway, have a great time on here with us and enjoy your new bike

Eyup mate I do have a blue SV. But I don't commute on it. I grew up in Hoyland believe it or not! We lived on Coronation Road for years! Town for me now though
Hi and welcome to the forum I have the Tiger 800 XRx and love it. Heading for the 20000 mile mark after 27 months of ownership. I went for the XR road focused version rather than the XC, the more off road focused bike for two reasons - the XR is lower (19 as opposed to 21" front wheel) and I am unlikely to seriously go off road, so the more expensive suspension would be wasted on me. I also chose the 800 rather than the 1200 for practical reasons - the 1200 is bloody heavy!
Welcome Paul. The 800 is a fabulous versatile engine. Don't discount the low version of the XR if you're struggling with the ride height of the standard. You can always add accessories to bring it to XRT spec. I'm short in the leg and arthritic. Although the ride height with low seat is not much more than my Street Twin (bench seat and Ohlins) the width of the Tiger frame makes quite a difference in being able to brace my leg when coming to a rapid halt.
