Hey, The Triumph-supplied tool-roll that comes with the 2016 Speed Triple is *ahem* somewhat lacking. I had the gear linkage come undone within three months from new and could have fixed it at the side of the road with the appropriate spanner but, as I found out, the tool kit is very limited. So... If you were planning a trip and wanted to augment the existing tool kit with some essentials that would hopefully help you out of a predicament out on the road. What would be your recommendations? Do you carry a puncture repair kit. The one with the mushrooms? I was thinking about the compressed air tyre inflators like you get for push bikes. Gled
Never use an adjustable on your bike ! Nasty horrible things. Carry a small selection of combination spanners instead. Get an oxford bike tool kit and add to that a 1/4” Drive ratchet. If you have a 1/4" breaker bar add that as well. Cable ties, duct tape are the other must have items. None of those take up much room. I also carry a mini compressor and puncture repaired kit if going a fair distance.
Nothing wrong with a good quality adjustable for a portable tool kit, something like Bacho or better will last a lifetime. The jaws stay parallel so it’s just a case of making you the user knows how to adjust it correctly. Now if you are going to apply a serious amount of torque that’s a different matter altogether and I would suggest that you won’t be carrying out such a task at the side of the road. Just my two pennies worth having spent twenty odd years maintaining Boeing aircraft.
Darkman, That's what happened to mine. Maybe a common fault? Managed to limp home but damaged the threads in the alloy gear lever. Had the gear mech changed under warranty. Gled.
Having had Triumphs from the late 60's i always carry tie wraps n spanners to get me home, odd that we had the same prob but no surprise to me as Triumphs have always come apart on there own
I have 3 Bachos of different sizes. For anything other than my bike they are fine. A roll of combination spanner’s up to 19mm only takes up a little more space than a couple of adjustable ones. Even less if you are only carrying those you need. Each to their own, I know which I prefer to use
Halfords sell a mini motorcycle toolkit for £10 which looks ok for an emergency but may well need a few spanners adding to it, if only to get some purchase on the sockets via the extension provided. Or maybe I missed something - again!!
It’s similar to the Oxford one. I got that free for doing a quote on Carol Nash a while ago. Reasonable selection of sockets etc but doesn’t have a 1/4” drive ratchet so I just add my 1/4” to it. As a freebie can’t really complain

The Oxford and Halfords mini toolkits look remarkably similar. I agree with Steve that a few additional spanners would be advantageous. I’m guessing these won’t fit under the seat. Can anyone confirm? Cheers Gled.
I can recommend one of these compressors, but doubt you'll find room under the seat for it along with a tool roll. Fortunately 99% of the time I have the wife in tow on her Street Triple which has more space, fits under there along with the puncture repair kit (stringy type). It does mean I have to make sure I don't loose her in case I get a puncture though. ...fitted a different connector so it uses the battery charge lead already fitted.
