OK, I've been looking into dashcams so I can capture any potential accidents. I'm not interested in recording my pleasure rides because nobody wants to see that. So GoPro's and all these action cam types are out. What I'm looking for is... One that connects straight to your battery Turns the camera on and starts recording when you turn the ignition on Small form factor Internal storage that loops 2 hour recording Crash detection so it doesn't overwrite your video in the event you're incapacitated (stores to long term memory 10 mins before and after accident) Easily removable and/or small enough to be hidden. Does that exist? If not, surely someone needs to invent that.
Interesting. I've searched and all I can find are manually operated action cams. You'd think with all the accidents and thefts involving bikes it's a bit of a no brainer to have something like this. I smell a kickstarter coming on

I also have an extra, external battery which give the camera up to 4 hours power, They used to supply a wiring kit for the motorcycle too. Picture quality is good. I tend to run it at 720p and 50 frames per second

I have the roadhawk bullet myself tidy little cam helmet mounted Sena also do one called the Prism tube my Cousin Andy-K2 on this forum runs that type theyre both good cams for the cash.
Ooft, that exhaust is bigger than my bike Not sure where I can mount it on the Street Triple... could maybe try for under the headlights, right in the centre. That'll keep it hidden as well.
There are a number of mounts supplied with the kit, including a curved tray for the side of your helmet. I use a sticky backed tray with the adjustable ball mount on the plastic cover of my radiator. I've also used the bar clamp mount to mount to the pillion peg bracket so I could have the camera facing backwards. Here's some footage I shot while on holiday in France a few years ago T
I have just fitted a NextBase RIDE to my 1200 Explorer. I wired it directly to the battery as I didn't want to faff around connecting it up to the ignition. When connected to the ignition it turns on when the ignition is on. I have to remember to turn it on/off manually. Nice. That's a really good price as well. Quick question after reading the manual - it says it comes with a hardwire kit for connecting to the battery. Would this kit also work if I want to connect it to the ignition, or do I need something else for that? I want to fit and forget it because I will fit and forget it. If it's wired to the battery I'll either forget to turn it on, or forget to turn it off.
Another vote for the Nextbase kit. I have one in the car and it's definitely wire it in and forget about it. I'm not sure about the bike camera but the car version comes with a cigarette lighter power lead. If you want to hard wire it they are more than happy to sell you a kit costing about £15. This isn't necessary if you don't mind a bit of soldering. All you get in the kit is a fuse piggyback connector, a couple of quid off fleabay, and wire with a USB plug for the camera on one end and a black plastic box on the other. The black plastic box contains the circuit to reduce the 12v coming from the battery to 5v for the USB camera. You already have this circuit, it's in the cigarette socket connector. All you have to do is cut the plug off open it up and remover the circuit board. Connect the 12v side of the circuit board to the battery using the above mentioned fuse piggyback and then solder the lead on to the 5v side. Cover the lot in heat shrink and you're done. You don't even need the fuse piggyback connector if you're happy to wire it directly to a suitable feed in the fuse box or join it to a suitable 12v wire that comes on with the ignition.
Hi Greg The kit on EBay claims [twice] to come with a hard-wiring option, so you should be good to go [and forget it], as long as you wire it via the ignition switch. However, it might be worth you going onto the Nextbase site and looking through FAQ's or "Contact". Cheers, Steve
