    Hi all

I have a 2014 model America, unfortunately I haven't ridden for a year, so come the slightly warmer weather in the UK I went to start it, despite being on a Triumph optimiser over the time the battery had fried no output at all. new battery tonight fitted and now when the start button is pressed just a click from under the seat????

any ideas / faults, I'm not a mechanic.....

The battery must have at least 12.6volts mate otherwise it’ll never start as the ECU won’t let it:(
Put your charger on overnight and try again tomorrow :)

No mate you can’t bump it either :(
    It must have 12.6v:confused:
When you get it going chances are that the engine management light will be on but don’t worry about it :)
It’ll go out after 3 cold to hot runs:p

I've had last 20 years on Superbikes on my own, but as I'm now 50 and my back is knackered I thought Id plump for a British bike for me and the wife to plod round on.... now, I cant bump it, has an ECU electronics telling me the charge is not quite right... what other delights are in store here :)

Make up a lead to connect to the battery terminals and park it next to a street lamp, pick your moment when no ones looking and wire it to the lamp.
Tip, might work better at night when that there electricery is powering the lamp, tho that will light you up to potential witnesses.
Prolly best to buy a new battery and keep it on an optimate, or similar. AA would work as well tho.

The problem is not peculiar to Triumph. All of the emissions regs, leaner fuelling and electronic control systems conspire to make modern vehicles nominally cleaner but at the expense of rugged simplicity.......most noticeable when not wheeled out daily and kept at peak charge. Smart chargers are the first bike accessory on the list!
