Engine Swap! Speed Triple 97

Hello everybody!

I have decided to get myself a road bike after a long time away form the public roads! Ive been offered a Speed triple 995i 1997 with what has been described as a faulty 3rd gear!

I see many other models use this engine - my question is - can i take a sprint or tiger engine of the same age an put it straight in to the bike or will i be needing the loom and ECU along with the new engine?

I was thinking about swapping the gear box but ideas like that always sound great until you start pulling things apart and the smile slwoly fades and turns to rag as you find other things that need doing!

The sprag clutch is also knackered apparently and the bike hasnt been fired up in nearly 5 years?!

Hi welcome. do you have a T509 955 or 595 no 995?? is it fuel injection? cant see why an engine from the other bike would not work once there the same. You may need to remap the new engine. tiger runs at lower revs. Try get engine same year. or go to ebay buy a gearbox and sprag put them in and away you go!!!! if your lucky.
