When I was over seeing family in the states, Northern Pennsylvania to be exact, they're was a report of a motorcyclist getting beheaded by hitting a moose / elk (think there the same thing). Quite a danger in the woods around them parts, even for car drivers can be fatal.

So yes, blackbirds & pheasants will do for us, thank you.

My mates ran over a very large dog carcass on the motorway in his BL Ambasador (Austin Princess renamed). It went up into the engine and wrapped itself around the exhaust and block. Within 10 miles they had to pull off and a couple of them threw up from the smell of cooking dog innards!

They found a fence post and took it in turns, to hold there breath, run up, prod bits of dog of the engine, until they had to breath and run away. They were all spewing by that point.

Was a great car, loads of space in the back, you could easy get 6 in the back and lovely comfy ride. Shame it was as fugly as hell and handled like a bar of soap on a rollerskates  Was the same colour as this one. His dad worked in a bodyshop and got loads of cheap cars for him, unfortunately they were all awful! Renault's of the 1980's, etc

A few years ago I had to ride home (the car towing the bike trailer broke down) at about 2am through a large forest. Suddenly I came a herd of big deer strolling across the road plus a pack of wild boar !!! Nearly shit meself !

One of the most dangerous ride-outs must be down through the New Forest to Beaulieu motor museum, there are un-contained pigs, horses and cows all over the place, we were so close to hitting a pig in the middle of the road on a bend!
Ancient rites are definitely not conjusive with modern living!

Round here - Norfolk - the main hazards are deer and pheasants but luckily I haven't had a coming together with either yet. However, I was buzzing down a back road in France a few years ago, doing about 80mph, pigeon came from nowhere and hit my screen, ricocheted off and hit the wing mirror and then me. No damage to the screen. The mirror was hit so hard it spun out of its mounting and my left shoulder was covered in pigeon shit, eggs and blood.
Meanwhile in Australia a roo jumped out onto the bonnet of my brother's Holden doing an unfeasible amount of damage. In Tanzania I was charged by an elephant while in the car. Fiat 127 can go really fast in reverse! And a lot faster than a rhino when in any forward gear.

I had a deer run out in front of me,of course I hit it.
Took out my radiator and broke my foot.£700 worth of damage to my Speed Triple.
Ever since then whenever I see venison on the menu I have it,eat them out of existence.

My brother reckons hitting a wombat is like hitting a fur covered canon ball.
