the clutch is a "wet clutch" so the oil leak is a seperate issue to the slipping
not a hard job to remove engine case and check clutch plates and springs.
oil leak - you would need to clean engine and watch to see where its coming from, most likely either a gasket or seal
are you sure you didnt lose a bit of oil when you changed crank sensor? did you replace gasket

The crank sensor gasket is new and oil tight i suspect maybe the oil cooler my be leaking as ive always had a slight smell of warm oil at times , ive also noticed the engine oil is fresh so im wondering if its the wrong grade of oil put in by the previous owner.
I will remove the lower fairing over the weekend and have a look for the oil leak and change the oil at the same time.

ive heard that fully synth car engine oil is not suitable for bikes due to wet clutches. you should use an oil designed for motorbikes. also some oil additives could cause slip (if anyone has added these)

Clutch slip problem solved after draining the old oil that was like black water and replacing it with proper bike oil and the oil leak was indeed the crank senor gasket after all so all is well.

Well its been a year since my post regarding clutch slip on my 900 trophy and alas it wasn't the end of it, every time I went on a run then parked up the later traveled home the clutch would slip I would pull over and bleed the cutch slave cylinder just a fraction of a turn and it would be ok. It turns out the thread on the bleed nipple wasn't air tight and air was being drawn in to the clutch fluid so I used white plumbers tape around the bleed nipple thread screwed it back in then bled the whole system and its as it should be.
