    Hi all,

Just noticed something on my bike not sure if anyone has experienced anything similar to it.
When i put the ignition on, the word "scale" is displayed on the tachometer and the shift lights light up all the way and then go back to the first one and continue flashing till the last shift light.
I can start my bike and ride it with no issues.

The bike starts fine and everything works but on occasion i notice that the speedometer stops working and starts flashing with 1 or zero sometimes even a 2. Also the display shifts between overall mileage and current trip mileage.

Also the GPS is faulty, so need to order another and fit. (Could this be the cause?)
Recently had a R/R recall done on bike

    Bike is a daytona 675, 2008 model.

    Round your way!
I'd check the connections to the speedo/tacho binnacle?
Look for any signs of moisture.

Checked, made sure no moisture present. only a little bit of electrical grease as far as i can tell. Lost a rubber grommet for a screen in the process lol.
I can notice that it looks like the inside of the dial looks to be somewhat misty, maybe water got inside the dial? whats the likelihood of that happening?
Would i be able to strip the dial and dry it off or just buy a new dial ? :(

I had similar problems on my KTM 690 Duke. Strange display etc.
Had to take the binnacle off and found moisture. Left it in the airing cupboard for a few days. I thing it got in when I pressure washed bike.
Try and dry it out. Think the cost of a new instrument binnacle will be horrendous ££££'s

the problem only started when i washed the bike with a pressure hose.
I think you might be right, im going to try it out when i have the chance, will remove and leave the instrument cluster to dry and make just use a hairdryer on the binnacle connector

If you can place the binnacle in a container with rice in that will draw any moisture out. It’s a technique recommended for mobile phones etc.

If I were you I would be using the bike (not even turning the ignition on) until I had made significant efforts to get rid of any moisture. Any wet going across the circuit boards will possibly cause a short which could actually, permanently damage the unit.

give my ignorance, but what exactly is the binnacle. Is it the whole inctrument cluster or is it just the connector at the back of the cluster. a pic refererrence would be highly appreciated.

The whole thing. What you choose to make with the leftover rice is up to you :mask:

Good idea, works a bit like the "silica gel" packets you get with electrical goods I suppose!;)
