    Hi all,

I’m looking to fit a smaller plate on my Bobber Black, not crazy small bit something around 7x5. I was also considering trying my luck with a black and chrome combo but appreciate I’m probably placing a neon of, “come and get me” to the Police.

Any wise words from you guys would be appreciated?

In Wales - they love to measure plates - they even booked a Harley rider for having standard plate but with a chrome surround that made the yellow margins too small.

Was planning to do the ride outs this year but might have to have a rethink and come up with a different plan :p

I’ve got 7*5 plate, and only been pulled once by the police in 20yrs. And that time was on my first day visiting Wales. Copper got out of his unmarked car with a ruler in his hand, and went straight to the number plate. He wasn’t worried that I was 60 in a 40!!

Why not stay away from North Wales? A couple of years ago 3 of us were stopped on the A494 (think its the road number) Bala lake way not speeding, me on a 6 day old Tiger 800 my mate on a three week old SV 650 and another mate on a Tiger 900. "Allegedley" it was to check our bikes were safe and tyres were roadworthy. When I tried to tell the buffoon that the bike was 6 days old and had under 500 miles on it his response was we are only trying to build bridges with bikers, he then proceeded to have a real good luck over all the bikes (approx. 20 minutes) then sent us on our way. During the 20 minutes I lost count of how many hot hatches with a half a dustbin exhausts went past plus all the Chelsea tractors with personalised plates letters formed to make a name none of them were stopped but then maybe the white hatted petrol wasters didn't want to build any bridges with the owners!
I haven't been back again since and have no intention of going either, there are roads just as good elsewhere.

On my Guzzi V7 I have a 4x7 plate in black and silver, not had any issues so far, although I put the proper one on for MoT time (and would also do it for heading to Wales too)

    Yo DD,Pete
Deffo they must have been watching crime watch. Seriously though when I was racing at Ty Croes (the old Angelsey circuit) and Tonfanau they would show up at the tracks and on the way home you would come across the sneaky set ups to catch the sportsbikes who had been to the racing to spectate. Another ruse was the "temporary" 4 0 limit on a national speed limit road, only for the race day of course.I
At the time I lived in Aintree and in the bike clubs it was well known to avoid North Wales, as a comparison some of the local traffic lads would show up at the Scotch piper on a Wednesday night and actually talk bikes. It did far more good than the building bridges bullshit.

Just had my bike MOT’d last week, The mechanic informed me that it would of failed as it didn’t have a rear reflector! He stuck a small round reflector on it, get them on ebay. I have a tail tidy on my bike so I guess it had a reflector on the original rear mudguard. Its another thing the cops can ticket you for apparently.

You will be refused an MOT as the tyre cannot be the last part of the bike.
