Good afternoon all, I am new to the forum and to Triumph. I had bought a 2017 R1 60th Anniversary (traded in against a 2014 CBR600F) a couple of weeks back, but due to unforeseen circumstances returned it to the dealer a couple of days later. I have just bought a new Graphite Speed Triple R from Shirlaws in Aberdeen and collect it on Friday of this week as long as the snow stays away. I have been checking the reviews online and I can't believe how excited I am to get this one on the road. The new bike is pretty much stock but I have added a tail tidy, radiator guard, Triumph tank pad, crash protection and a Stormex cover although it will be garaged at all times. It will probably be used for a few summer commutes and some weekend touring up the west and north coast of Scotland. I go out with my 78 year old dad most of the time, so not particularly quick most of the time. but don't mind a little bit of spirited riding now and again. I expect this one to be a bit of a mile-muncher in comparison to the previous 600. Previous bikes in no particular order, Yamaha Diversion, CBR 400 (NC23), Honda NTV650, Yamaha Virago 535, Yamaha R6 (2002), CBR600F2, Yamaha Thunder -ace. The only one to end up in a field (touch wood) is the Honda NTV650 on the back roads between Perth and Crieff on the 3rd day I had it. Scott

Hi Scott welcome from another speed triple owner i'm just up the road from you in Blair, what kind of bike does your dad have? I'll keep an eye out for you both
Hi Dougie, Thank you, he has a Yamaha 400 Majesty Scooter and an MZ Baghira, his MZ is in bits in the garage at the moment for a colour change and general fettling.
Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. It looks like the first outing will be in rain mode tomorrow, It will be running in so maybe not a bad thing. Also once it's picked up it also gives me the rest of tomorrow to get the bucket and chamois out. I've read that Autoglym aqua wax might be the ideal thing for protection of the matte paint after washing, but would appreciate any expert input from those that have lived with this type of paintwork long term.
