2004 Speed Triple Gearchange

Hi, Just bought a 2004 Speed Triple. It's a genuine low mileage (7500) machine. My problem is it doesn't want to change up from 2nd to 3rd when revving hard. At low revs it goes up and down the gearbox okay but if you cane it, it seems to lock up....any help gratefully received!! Cheers!

Check your linkage for excessive play and make sure the chain is not to tight.

Thanks. Chain is a bit slack if anything but I'll check the linkage...

It might be worth checking to see how dirty the engine oil is as well, oil n filter cost very little to change.

2004? I thought that was a direct gearshift, no linkage.

I think I have fixed this. The oil level was way too high so I removed some oil and got the level bang on. Also adjusted the clutch so it was disengaging sooner on the lever movement and the gearchange is much better. I have also moved the gear lever one position on the splines so it is higher up - I haven't tested this last change yet though.
