Talking of early Skodas, a colleague bought one new in the early 70s - cheap as chips. He called his manager, who lived nearby, one morning to say it wouldn't start. The engine was completely shagged and the car was a write-off. BUT, he'd done over 100,000 miles in it, and never had it serviced - not once. He claimed he'd never even lifted the bonnet. We did high miles then, running a big territory, so the car wasn't very old.

I had the same Hillman Minx. The one in the picture is a serials III, before they got 'wings'. Mine's was same colour, powder blue over charcoal grey. Bench seat and a column change. Loved mine, especially getting six people in it and no seat belts.

Yes, and Brean Sands, but idiots keep ignoring the signs of where not to drive and get stuck, often losing the car to the tides!
