Rear Brake Won't Pump Up

Help I just installed a motone brake relocation bracket on a 2013 Thuxton and have tried everything I cant get rear brakes to get stiff what am I missing any advice will help thank you

 

By stiff i take it you mean.....do they make contact on the disc when applied? Have you bled them properly, did they supply a new brake hose with the kit? Triumph Twin Power supply one with their kit maybe thats important.

 

No line but I've bleed them reverse bleed them and nothing the pads are hitting the disc but the pedal goes all the way down I have it up on center stand and when I push pedal it doesn't stop rear wheel until I start it then it grabs so I thought I fixed it went for a ride and still no rear brakes .

 

Are the brakes linked and don't you need a special tool to bleed abs brakes?

 

No brakes aren't linked and I don't know about any special tool ?

 

You have got air in the system. Relocation of the caliper has probably given you a loop of hose higher than both master cylinder and caliper.

Solution: dismount the caliper (not the bracket) and put something marginally thicker than the disc between the pads then elevate the caliper as vertically as you can (wire to frame?)and bleed as before so air can rise freely up the hose, into the caliper, out the bleed nipple and via clear pipe into a partially filled jar so you can watch the air being purged.
Alternatively drop the caliper (pads separated as before) below the master cylinder and hang a weight off the pedal. Leave overnight. This will allow air to escape back up into into the master cylinder and be replaced by descending fluid. Lift off weight and bolt caliper back on.....

 

As above or fit a 3 foot bleed tube on the nipple, partially open it and draw the fluid though with a syringe works every time

 

if in doubt, suck it out.

 

Silly question but when you bled the brake you did top up the reservoir ?

 

Yes I did top it up and used a syringe so I'll try what callumity suggests thank you all

By hanging a weight on the pedal, arn't you just causing the lines to be pressurised, the valve to the reservoir would be closed and the air would only escape when you release the brake - by pressurising the lines, does this help extract any air?

(14)Fill the system with brake fluid and bleed the system. When bleeding the system,it is important toremove the caliper from the UpNOver hanger and angle the caliper so that the bleed nipple is facing
upwards, this will help ensure all air is evacuated from the system. It is also necessary to insert something between the pads to stop them closing up while bleeding

Fitted one recently, you need to follow instructions to the letter.
Took a lot of "bleeding"

Its a pain in the arse agreed I remounted the pipe for the up position put a flat piece of metal between the pads to replicate the disc then sort of turned it upside down rested it on a piece of wood then attached an easi bleed tube or use tube into some brake fluid in a bottle making sure its a nice tight fit on the nipple open the nipple on the downstroke of the pedal when down lock off then up keep at it untill all the air is gone from the plastic tube refit it to the bracket takes a while but if you persist you will get there.
