hi all, I'm sure this topic has been discussed but I'm just looking for a couple of simple questions answered buy you guys who know much more that me! I have a 2007 865 Bonnie, the last of the carb models. It has standard pipes which are to quiet and I'd like to just create a little more noise. The "Not for Road use pipes" (Are they what they call "TOR" ) available at the time for carb came with jets. I've spoken to my local dealer and I can still get "Not for Road use pipes" but they are really dear and now don't come with jets which I find strange. A friend has an EFi set of "Not for Road use pipes" So I'd like to ask woohat's the difference between the "Not for Road use pipes" for carb bikes and the ones or later EFi bikes? And can I fit EFI pipes to my bike. I don't want to muck anything up and alter the standard piles in any way. Thank you all very much
Brilliant! A fellow cheapskate who does not want to throw silly money at a venerable bike........ £190. https://www.feked.com/hinckley-triumph-bonneville-premium-vickers-silencers-complete-kit.html Cranborne, Dorset so fairly local to you. 128 mains and Breathe from TTP - about £70 https://www.triumphtwinpower.com/bo...ter-intake-cover-bellmouth-velocity-stack.php Standard pilots should not need changing. So for about £250 you will have a very appreciable mid range torque improvement and a manly burble. It says nothing on the pipes and they are sufficiently inoffensive to not cause MoT issues. Quality is surprisingly good. The only downside is the short adapter to accommodate the kink in the header pipe. Seal with ordinary silicone.
Not an issue. I was just clarifying lest there be any doubt.......but they do have quite a Meriden note.
Even then just put a sticker over any markings before the MOT. The tester can't remove the stickers. Then make sure you choose a tester who isn't fussed about noise.
I know where you are coming from with the desire for a nicer sounding set of pipes, stock are tame to put it mildly. But . . . . . don't think of altering them as "mucking them up"! For the cost of a hole saw (£12), and a couple of hours "work", I now have pipes that sound as good, if not better, than some costing over £600. Triumph made very good pipes for the bike, they just overdid it with the restrictors and baffles. Also if it goes pear-shaped with the "pipe-improvements", there are lots of sets of standard silencers out there on e.bay etc for next to nothing, as so many people buy aftermarkets.
