I'm thinking about a Thunderbird LT. Test rode one last Monday and loved it.

Yesterday I tried to find out what it'd cost to insure so I called Hastings Direct who I have a policy with.

They told me the company I have my America insured with wouldn't give me a quote unless the bike was garaged (I've only got a drive) but they found another company (Zenith) who quoted £469. Considering I'm paying £110 for the America I thought that was a bit steep!

Online, Hastings gave me a quote (with Zenith again) for £364. Eh??? What sort of computer systems are they using?

Devitts quoted £330 but I'd have to get a ground anchor installed.

So then it was Triumph's turn.....

£669  Now you'd have thought that maybe, just maybe they might have been able to do a deal but no. Twice what Devitts want (and I'd have to pay extra to extend the cover if I went to Europe) and apparently no room for manoeuvre.

Serves me right for having expensive tastes I guess...

Has anyone actually managed to get a decent price from Triumph Insurance as I remember their quote for my 1050 was double what I was paying?

I'll be interested to see what Triumph insurance come up with. Do keep us posted!

In terms of cost, Devitts was the cheapest (although they were asking for a ground anchor which will add a few quid or so as a one off cost) with Hastings the next best.

I'm using MCE they seem very fair price wise although having a garage and 10 years no claim bonus does help

Just found this thread so decided to get a quote for my sprint, bearing in mind I'm already insured on my Ducati ST2 944 .... sit down, Devit £303, Carol Nash £345, Triumph £1,400. YES.. you read it correctly, 1400. That is for a guy with 40 years riding experience, no accidents or convictions, but only 1 year NCD as I had a couple of years without a bike... I think Miss Nash may get a call simply for the added free breakdown cover which would be a£40 addition from Devit

Ha! I wonder if Triumph are serious about "their" insurance or do they just hope folks don't check elsewhere.

£1,400 is taking the Michael somewhat...

Just wondering if triumph have actually insured ANY bikes... when I called them re the Speed triple Dark, a bike they made..they could not insure me as the bike did not exist....
Ended up going with MCE..and spending twice as much as i normally do....
