    Hi fellow triple fans.

Just joined despite having owned modern Triumphs for over 20 years.
Current Triumph is a Centennial edition, which I have owned for about 14 years, which is currently off the road due to a snapped crankshaft.

Welcome Ian. Some of us also ride twins btw, but triples are good too.

I'm afraid it's Aston Green, although, if you stand quite a way back and squint, it looks almost black. This is as she was last week.

It's a new engine job mate.
It just snapped off, no obvious reason.
I was surprised that the end of the crankshaft that takes the camchain is only supported on one end.

If it snapped like that you have to suspect a defect in materials or design. I would be more inclined to suspect a subtle design defect if it is a known ‘issue’. It puts me in mind of American V8s and the harmonic vibrations than can build up in longish crankshafts relative to their diameters......and the use of dampers to prevent just such sudden failures. I equally suspect Triumph are abreast of the problem but admitting nothing.....

Unreported for many years, Triumph had loads of crankshaft failures with the triple from 2000 on wards due to bad manufacturing :-(
