HI, After leaving my bike with lights on for 2 hrs, it would not start, I then tried to bump start it, to no avail. I then got it started through jump leads on my dads car. since getting it home last night I put battery on charge, but it would not charge up, same thing tonight. Have I damaged my battery or something, as I have been told since that you shouldn't bump start or use jump leads off a car as it can blow the fuses, Can anyone help, as I was about to order a new battery. Thanks. Ren.
If your battery is not holding charge then it is time for a new one. I would also suggest replacing it with a MotoBat battery (yellow ones) They are really good not sure what model bike you have got but you get most models on E Bay Triumph Speed Four 600 EFI 599cc 2003 CTX9-BS Motobatt Motorcycle Battery | eBay
It may also be your charger. I have a halfords charger which won't charge a flat battery, it will only charge a battery with some charge in it. below a certain level it does nothing. However the optimate works on completly flat batteries, and i also assume some of the other inteligent chargers will also do this. Worst case as your battery drains it may have warped the inner cells in which case it is knackered..
Hi All, Just a quick update: I borrowed an intelligent battery charger and after 24hrs charge it stated fully charged, I will see how the bike goes. If it still loses charge then I will purchase a new heavy duty one. Thanks for your help.
